Smile A new Fit owner from Argentina

Hi!

This is my Fit. It's new, I got it yesterday.
It's a Fit 1.4 LX, the base model here, it costs $17.400 and it's made in Brazil, not Japan.

I really like it!

I thought all Fits were made in Japan - welcome to the forum!

Nice! Besides the JDM style nose, it has alloys, painted mirrors, door guards. It looks like a nicer "base" than the one we get here.

Will it run on pure ethanol (or is that just in Brazil?)?

Interesting the dash lights are red; ours are blue.

We don't have ethanol in Argentina.

I will upload more photos later to see the diferences with this south american Fit.

Your car looks great to me... I wouldn't mind having one just like it considering the great gas mileage figures combined with the great looks, it would be one of the rare cars that I wouldn't want to change anything on....

Thank you!. But I want some mods. Like window tints next week and the red emblems that I already bought. In a couple of months I would like to buy some 16' white wheels, but they are hard to find here and if you find it they are very expensive.

Looking at the fuel economy, is that a hybrid?

It's the 1.3L that honda uses with it's IMA system... (just without the IMA & weight). Curious as to why Argentina (and other South American Countries?) label it as a 1.4L. It ain't no beast at the track but it'll take on many of the hybrids here in the US for economy. My 1.5 is getting 38+ lifetime and it's rated for 33 combined...? Imagine what this GE will actually get for lifetime economy. 44mpg, 46mpg... NICE!

They should sell the 1.3 here. I think TheEVILone would pick it up with his current economy

I wonder if they use the U.S. gallon or British gallon measurement in Argentina. The U.S. gallon is larger.

I thought about it and looked it up before my last post. (doesn't look like it - but I found no definitive info) I also thought that standards might not be as strict as they are in the US. (not sure)

The U.S. gallon measures out at 1.200952 of the British gallon.

Read the last post wrong. I thought about that it might be imperial (and looked up Argentina & Imperial) and found no info suporting it. (not that the US was bigger than imperial.)

I was a math major... Reading Aint my Strong suit.

My math skills suck and my eyesight isn't so great anymore either... I think that most countries that refer to gallon measurement for gas mileage figures are referring to the British standard... I'm not sure that is right but something I read in Road&Track said something about it in an article about fuel mileage figures and how it makes cars sold in the U.S. have lower figures than other countries.

Not imperial... I just looked back at the original stats listing L/100km and did the conversion. It's US Gallons.

DAMN! that engine needs to come over here to be a MPG King. (unless the MPG stats are more strict here in the US) - Except... it might take away sales from the Insight.

Thanks for taking the time and having the skills and math skills to do that. That little engine does need to be available here. I am pretty sure it is the 2 valve 2 spark plug hemispherical head configuration motor... I had the heads on a Harley Davidson motorcycle fitted with second spark holes and it improved the fuel mileage big time... I tried to rep you but I need to spread some reps around and couldn't.

In Canada from my WIndow sticker - 7.1 and 40 City and 5.5 and 51 Hwy. I got 38.5 mpg (Imperial) overall the first year.

so that would be 32.3 US? What kind of Driving do you do? %City/Highway.

That's right on par for what the US states for Combined.

Hard to estimate. Hmm 50 - 50 maybe. The last couple of months I have found it more sporty in the city to leave it in D3 vs D. So it is running a few more rpms. Now I just put a Throttle Controller and trying to run it at EC5 but SP7 keeps calling me.
