MPG seems to have gone down?

It's weird. I used to get about 290 per tank but then recently it seems like I'm using a ton of gas. Like I filled up and by the time I got to 80 miles it was already a bit more than 1/3 of my tank gone.

Could that be the air filter? Maybe I have a leak somewhere? I didn't see any fluid or anything though when I pulled the car out of the car port this morning.

Try hand calculating it to get an accurate idea of any trend.. fuel gauges can and do lie.

Is this just one tank or is this over a few tanks?

Start tracking your mileage and economy. That's the easiest way to tell if you are actually losing MPG. try using the same Pump for a few fill-ups too.

i'm over 38mpg and getting 350+ on a tank easily.

What's the ODO stating?

+1 on this.

Keep a notebook inside the car, do the computation yourself, and jot down your distance, fuel volume and fuel consumption figures - that's the best way about it IMO.

Oh but wait, notebooks are so old-school. You probably have websites for that already.

Also check your tire pressures. Mine were all low, one even triggered the TPMS when we were camping last week. Filled everything to 34psi - Back up to 33mpg on my (TSB/reprogrammed) dash computer.

How in the hell are you doing that- easily to boot? That better be mostly highway! I can't come anywhere near that unless I'm on the highway. I swear if I had longer trips on the highway my mpg meter would just climb and climb to who knows what- 50?! But really, back and forth to work, around town- I never get much past 265 miles per fillup. My mpg hovers between 30-32. Highway, it sails easily up to 38-40. But I gas up randomly, so what I'd get per tank would be more than what I'm getting per fillup. I always let it go down just about to an 8th of a tank when I can but it's not exact every time. So average, I find I get about 260 miles per fillup. Even if I always could run out the full tank, maybe 300 miles? Ya got me beat by a long shot.

I get 35-37 consistently now.. with about 50/50 highway/city. I've found driving it easy and doing the speed limit has really improved it a lot. The real time MPG meter really helps give me with my driving habits.

My car has 3800ish miles on it now with zero issues.

I drive mostly highway. It's been two tanks now that seem to be less mileage.

I checked my tire pressure too!
