Vented hood...tossing around ideas.
#4
If I get a hood, won't do you guys much good there since our hoods are different, but some ideas to look at. I can't really tell which way you have the vents facing, but you should point them to vent towards the rear of the hood. Already taking in air from the grill and having the vents will allow trapped hot air to escape with the natural flow of air coming in.
NEVERMIND: The larger ones are obviously pointing towards the rear, it was the smaller one that was hard to see, but I imagine they would be facing towards the rear since the other 2 are.
Anyways I'm looking at eventually the J's hood, but will actually buy it from First Molding in full carbon versus just a carbon layer on top of fiberglass since they actually produce the hood for J's anyways. If not that one, the Tracy Sports hood (Ings).
First Molding
The hump up front is increased area for airflow entering from the grill, the stock air guide is still used, but now not so constricted.

I like the Ings hood...not so crazy about the Js hood. Maybe it's just the angle?

The Tracy Sports (INGS) version is exactly what I would want, just in USDM, obviously. Still gives it an oem look, but aggressive and serves a purpose. Wonder if there are any places that would do 4-5 custom. I'm sure we would have two interested right off the bat.
EDIT: Agree, the J's is too busy for me.

I think with the small hood of the GE, even smaller on the JDM model, the First Molding hood might look a little over the top for some people, but it is even more functional than the Ings/Tracy Sports hood. Now if Ings would make a full carbon version, I would probably go that direction for sure.
Right now with the $ in its pathetic state of zero value, I don't want to purchase anymore items. The J's exhaust already is costing way TOO much for what it is, but I wanted it and ponied up the cash.
I would really like to see a new replacement under hood duct that mates right up to the stock intake box or even to something like the PRM intake. Obviously it can't mate directly or the hood wouldn't be able to open , but something mated up with like sponge tape or rubber forming a seal between the 2 pieces.

Awesome man...you finally threw down on the Js Ti exhaust! That's gonna be a huge performance boost (from shaving weight, not increasing ponies)! It's too hard to source the entire Js exhaust over here. I'm thinking about just finding someone local to fab a one off aluminum exhaust system.

Yeah I ordered the mid-pipe and rear canister a little over a month ago, the very next day I went to a J's event at one of the Super Autobacs about 15 miles away and could have saved another 5% if I had known about the event (found out about it online that morning). I asked if I could cancel and re-order, they were not going for it. Though I got an email later the next week and I believe they might give me the 5% discount, it's just ¥6950, but that is about $82. I'll take it if they give it.
Still need to eventually get the front pipe as well to delete the 2nd cat, but really want to wait to see if the $ ever recovers value, but if I wait too long, it might just end up costing even more.
Ohhh, not going to be a huge performance boost by hp output, but losing another 13lbs will be nice. I'll be lucky it it puts out about 5~7hp. I believe this is what J's lists for improvement, it's not much really, but in all reality that is an increase of about 5% plus the loss of weight, which could be translated to even more power. hahahaha

LOL @ burlap...
I don't understand the arguement about rain/water in the engine bay. People act like the engine floats in a hermetically sealed, hyperbaric chamber somehow isolated from environmental exposure.
The road splash coming up underneath the engine is much more toxic than the potable water used for washing the car or even the rain...
