i swear you gotta love the mpg on this thing
so ever since i first bought the car in may, i been trying to drive very conservatively to get my avg mpg meter as high as possible. i do a lot of city/highway driving since i work 3 miles away, and go to school 24 miles away.
im one of those fit drivers who has trouble keeping their eyes off of the instant mpg and avg mpg meter. which causes me to drive at speed limit or below. i usually end up with about 34-35 mpg.
around my last two tanks of gas, i decided f**k it, i started using sports mode much more often, and started shifting at higher rpms and driving like how i used to drive on my previous car. i accelerate much faster on city, but try to stay only a tiny bit above speed limit, and i drive at around 75-80 instead of 65-70 on the freeway now, and i still get 33-34.5 mpg.
im suprised i barely lost any mpg with a heavier foot, this car still amazes me 3 months after my purchase

Yep- even with the AC going now, mpg's are still great. And they get better over time. I'll caution you though- don't get too distracted by the avg meter. It's like talking on a cell phone and it WILL pull your attention from the road. If you're an avg meter junky, I suggest you brake the habit by keeping the readout on miles or trip miles. Over time you'll actually stress less about the whole thing. Have fun.

46 mpg is my highest average...This was VERY conservative driving with a mix of highway and city. I use 91 octane exclusively. I've been averaging 38 mpg with a heavy foot...but this is after putting my Fit on the atkins diet. LOL

I use premium too. Did they ever pass the 15-20 ethanol up there in Minnesota? My next tank will be 87 octane because wife is not working for a few more weeks and want to see how much my mileage drops. I am averaging 40mpg and expect it to drop to 37 next tank.
