tires
hey guys,
i know a lot of people on the forum are switching out their stock tires to the 195 ones. firstly, for those who have it:
1. does it make a difference in ride quality or noise? esp noise...cuz stocks are pretty loud
2. to my knowledge, the 195 number is the width of the tires? or does it actually raise the car by a bit?
3. MPG big difference?
4. Will the stock wheels still fit? and won't affect tpms sensor in anyway?
would you guys do it or stick with the stock sizes (given the price is the same)
my wheels have like 5k on them and will be used up in like 2 months. I am asking so i know how mcuh im looking at and see maybe i can do rims instead. haha
i called my tire place....only dunlops or bridgestone makes it...$95 each.

1. The road noise will highly depend on the type of tire. Personally, the OEM Bridgestones aren't that loud at all.
2. 205 is the width. It will not raise the ride height.
3. There will most likely be a microscopic difference in MPG.
4. The OEM wheels will accomodate the 205 series tires. I don't see why the TPMS would be affected.
5. I'm currently at 45,XXX miles and am still using the OEM Bridgestones. I feel that I only have a few more thousand miles until I get a new set of tires. I plan on upgrading to 205/50/16. I will most likely get the Falken Ziex ZE-912.
6. How did you happen to wear out your tires with only 5,XXX+ miles?

haha for some reason my tires are getting low on thread...i dont think i ever rotated them for the last 20k miles. hmm. i suspect I have like 5k left in them.
arent u getting aftermarket rims matt? i think 205 might be too big for stock no? I hear 195 is good?

Well there you go. 20K and no tire rotation is your problem. I'm not surprised that you're tread is low, especially up front. You should probably rotate your tires and get an alignment soon. I don't think you need to get a new set of tires just yet. It would be a waste of money IMO. 205/50/16 will be fine. Some other GE8 owners are running 205/50/16 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires with the OEM wheels.

^ +1.
I had the Direzza DZ101's on my Integra GS-R and loved them. They were a great value, didn't impact my economy (was getting 31 in the GS-R) and were quiet. gripped the road like there was no tomorrow too.
I'll probably opt for them when I need to replace the stock wheels (after I get dedicated winter rims)
