As for Soda, we dont drink much but we do buy a 4 pack of Natural Brew Root Beer and Gingerale. (Used to buy 2-3 bottles of schweppes a week but not anymore.) We now buy alot of Newman's Own beverages and condiments/dressings, Koffee Kup Breads (local here in VT) and a number of other items. Fortunately for us, we have a few CoOPs here and they have a huge amount of all natural, organic, etc... foods and as long as you watch the sales, you can get it at prices lower than grocery stores.

We haven't cut it out of our lives completely but pretty much for the most part, it's not part of our diet.

We also use Britta filters, and Stainless water bottles, and try to live healthier. My wife Puree's veggies and adds them things lilke burgers, Mac & Cheese, etc... (you'd be surprised how good blueberries and spinich are in burgers).

My area may be especially tough for "alternative" menus- the restaraunts are all BBQ and fried food with "healtheir" menu items being the obligatory head lettuce salads . We can spend a lot of time and money going to the local coops and private farms, or spending a lot of money at Whole Foods. But all of this takes extra time and money and planning ahead, when most of NA society is drive-thru conditioned.

We make it work for us, actually my wife does most of the work, but it certainly wasn't easy in the beginning. As I said earlier- there are easily attainable things to start with, like buying a stainless steel bottle- and I often see them on clearance in random places around town.
