Angry Stolen Rims (Again!)

Location: Reading, PA
Date: 7/10/2010
Model: '08 Sport
Issue: Rims were stolen again... would love to know if anyone sees rims for sale on the street, and if so, if they could let me know.

Totally aggravated, as I love my fit, but with this inconvenience, I'm thinking maybe it's time to get another car.

wheel locks? they're cheaper than buying new rims or another car.

Heh.. I had wheel locks on the car.
They broke out the window and dug into everything in the car until they found the adapter to release the lug nut.

Heh... it's a loss... but in one respect maybe not that bad... I had a near accident, and the result was a bent rim, so I had to replace one of 'em anyhow. Just funny that in 2.5 years of owning the car and logging about 55k miles, I've gone through 2 sets of tires, and yet I don't know what it costs to replace the tires.

did you have wheel locks for both times?

is there anyway to have a car alarm that sends a signal to a beeper?

I'm sorry to hear this. Tell me how buying a different car can prevent your rims from being stolen.

There are pager alarms if that's what you mean. There are also gps alarms that will call your phone if your alarm is set off.

sorry to hear.

after you get your money from insurance, get an aftermarket wheelset from tirerack. then the thieves wont care.

this might be a sign of times to come. the economy is so bad, and people are out of work, so more and more of this might increase

good thing they didn't take your cats too while they were under there. That's getting common too.

my friend has like 4 different kinds of wheel locks on his stock wheels.. maybe you should try that out? also, invest in a 2-way alarm with a shock sensor. Clifford/Viper alarms are good.

The fit rims are becoming the new SI rims.
Every riced out civic used to sport the stock SI wheels and those would get stolen ALL the time.
Any car show you go to nowadays, you see civics and other cars pimping the stock fit rims............
Crazy, but trends are what keeps this hobby going............
