40mph: to shift or not to shift, that is the question

I know there are many different situations, but I just want an idea if the road was straight

I selected all four options for 40 mph. Whoops, I meant all four options for 4th gear.

Sometimes I feel slow and a bit fuel conscious, so I'll shift around 30. Sometimes I forget what I'm doing and shift much later (did that once getting on the highway).

7.1k requires an ECU reflash.

Shifting is ALWAYS a state of mind - either up or down.
Braking is for sissies and losers.

I generally don't have to worry about brake pad replacement until the rest of the car has started to fall apart,or over 100,000 miles.

I selected shift into fourth after 3500-4500 and I drive an automatic and wish it was manual. I can still shift whenever though with my paddles.

It really depends what speed I'm accelerating towards.
55, I like to shift at 3500 for 3rd 4th and 5th.
35, I usually shift around 25 mph.
65, I usually gun the hell out of it on highway ramps.

It is part of the high boost kit from KWSC.... You get a pre paid shipping box for your engine control unit to send the engine control unit to Hondata for reprogramming to be properly tuned for the 10 PSI boost and they extend the RPM limiter to 7200 rpm and disable the top speed governor... The power increase is amazing... I was finding myself in 5th gear at 30 MPH when I went to town awhile ago, 3rd will pull to 90MPH and I am having too much fun for an old guy that walks with a cane and takes heart medication....

Just don't forget to take the medication before Fitting.

So instead of a gun rack you have a cane rack in the back of your pickemup Fit? I occasionally borrow one from the wife when the sciatica acts up.

It's my wife's pick up and she packs a nice little lady like .38 and usually drives her Forester.... Sciatica is killing me right now and I have 4 medical appointments in 10 days and 2 of will require 8 hours of diving combined but I get travel pay so it will cover the gas with enough left over to go out for a nice dinner with the old lady or maybe buy her some ammo. I can shoot deer and wild hogs from out of the windows from in the house so we don't have a gun rack.

Sorry to hear that Wily. Hurts all the time? I am usually ok for sometimes a year then I really screw it up. Physio for a couple months usually gets it back in order as well as regular chiro adjustments. So I can't complain.

I hope you remember to open the windows before taking down dinner.

Buy her dinner vs ammo. Geez I have not Fitted since Tues when did groceries. Cabin fever.

op- are you driving a AT? then just shift into drive and just let the car decide.

if you're driving MT you dont go by speed, you go by RPM. on my MT fit, i find myself usually 2.3K or higher at cruising speed.

I usually rev out the RPMs before changing gears, otherwise, the Fit is like a turtle, especially getting onto freeway on-ramps. I usually don't shift into 5th gear until I'm around 70 mph. I never get into 5th gear city driving. When does everybody shift into 5th?

Reading the title of the thread I though you were asking when to shift to 5th! Thru town I'm always in 4th before 30mph and hit 5th around 40. That's on flat ground with my desired cruising speed between 35 and 45. If I'm accelerating up to 55 or beyond I choose my shift points depending on how fast I want to get there.
