RUB or NO RUB: Swift Sport Mach + 16x7/+40mm + (195/50R16 or 205/50R16)

Going for FORM+FUNCTION mod...

Had a talk with JLB, they said a 16x7 +40mm should be fine without lowering but they can't guarantee "no-rubbing" on a 16x7 +40mm with a 1.2" spring drop + stock shocks.

I'm considering a Swift Sport Mach + 16x7/+40mm + (195/50R16 or 205/50R16) combo.

Should I be concerned??? I'm not versed in this area so any input would be appreciated, specially to Swift spring users.

Thanks

I'd bet you'd be better off with a 205/45/16 on the stock wheels if you want to avoid rubbing... that's the setup I want!

Hey I have swift springs and jusT bought rims. I have done tons of research. General consensus is that you will have rubbing with 40mm and 205/50s but you would be able to correct it with some fender lining modification and maybe a small roll. I personally wanted to run 205/50 so I found some 45mm rims in order to avoid rubbing issues. I didn't want to have to deal with all that.

@jondotcom: I'm already feeling too much road as we speak and as much as I would love to run on 45s... I just can't.

@Btrthnezr3: I've read some comments by you with the Swift. SO is it 1.2"/1" or 1.2"/1.2"?
I kinda would like a less drop in the rear. I'm really liking the wheel I'm considering right now but I can only wish if they had it in +45.
There's really not that much wheels in the +45s that I'm having a liking to

RUB!! with that setup you will. Without the drop, you will rub on speed bumps if you go over it too fast and when you have a packed car. Solo okay on a nondrop. recommend 45+ even a 42+ can rub with a drop unless you flare the fenders. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure with that man. Are they really saying "no rubbing"?

The swifts are 1.2 front and 1.0 rear.

I understand your plight with finding 45mm rims. I had the trouble too. But as some have said, you will do better with 42 or 43 both of which can be found.

I bought Rota R Spec which are 45mm.

Flared fenders??? ugh! I'm really bugged out now and just might drop the +40 rims I liked.

What about... 1.2 drop with +42 and maybe with a rolled fender if I must? Boomba Racing would gladly do a +1 to +2 or max +3 lathe to fit or fender roll.

I think you'd be ok with that setup...may rub on hard bumps and sharp turns.

If all else fails, you can modify the front fender liner.

Did you find those polished ones on hondamarketplace.com?

With too much half-assed-road-works in Chicago... I would rather opt not to rub at all if possible

I'm going with JLBM on the GN+.

Aight sweet--

Well, I think you'll be ok...like I said, and if you modify the fender, you should be golden.

I didn't want to mess with that, so I got something 45mm.

Rota has Slipstreams in stock right now that are 45mm but they may not be as pretty as the GN+'s.

Let us know how it goes--I'm still saving up for tires.

Well...

Rota has some Slipstreams in Flat Gunmetal--you could always add a pin stripe?
They are 13.8 lbs I do believe

I'm not really liking the Slip's look too much.

I've set myself now on going with this cleaner look
