09 fit racoon damage
Well just sharing my experience.....was on the highway last week, going from montreal to toronto (canada) - then somewhere in the middle of the road - head on with i think was a full sized racoon, and wham - it took out the rad, and the base which holds the rad/ac up, is also bent, and some bumper work - its going to be an insurance kind of thing - was going around 100ks+
Basically car is in the shop - rad all leaked out - and I've got a civic loaner
i checked the civic, and the front bumper is about the same as the fit

wow, 2 years ago i drove to canada for a tennis tournament in my 02 civic
i had never hit any animal before, and i hit a possum right on the wheel. lucky no damage to the car just blood splatter
and on the way back hit a skunk that got bounced under the car, no damage either, but the car smelled for 2 months

I don't see how your radiator would be damaged without your condenser at least being bent.... The condenser on my GD was damaged on my car and replaced along with the entire front fascia and under body plastic from the rear axle forward but the radiator was fine.... I hit a gator (shredded truck tire) a real problem down here since NAFTA.

damage on teh bottom bumper - it cracked - looked at the rad, its like someone with a big fist punched it in -and since the condenser is next door....also the rad sits on something. I don't recall what its called, but that is also bent.
Plus the whole underbody plastic shield needs replacing.
In the end - insurance is gonna cover this

Wow. I had no idea that the radiator and condenser were side by side so I get it now... That was one bad mother raccoon..... Armadillos are referred to as Texas speed bumps and make a hell of a racket when you go over them...Fortunately their smooth flexible shell allows you to slide right on over them in a Fit but I highly recommend that you avoid them when you can.
