When I bought my fit, I did have the sales rep put thr SSM and TWhite side by side. White worked great to make the fit look a bit larger than it should. Nothing will change on how the masses would see the fit... it's a nice looking little car, hence "cute" : D
I could have gone with TWhite and would still be happy with it but opted for SSM as it made the car look more subtle and subdued and complements the partly silver interior/dashboard.

Take a look at the Sig Pic below: that’s right – two TW Fits in the garage. Fiona’s hers, but Jadzia’s mine! I don’t think white’s any more or less macho a color on the Fit than the others available here in the US.
When we went to buy Jadzia, my wife hadn’t seen a GE Fit except in magazine photos. When we first saw one across the dealer’s lot, the first words out of her mouth were “Oh, it’s cute!” As I recall, the one she saw happened to be Storm Silver, so it seemed to me at the time that her reaction was to the shape of the car, not necessarily the color. Could have been the same reaction from your SO.
To me, the shape is unique – unlike anything else on the road, a bit aggressive from some angles, but not to the point where it really stands out and grabs the attention of The Law. The person who buys & drives a Fit doesn’t have a problem with owning something that looks “different”. Someone who needs to drive a “normal-looking” car should go and buy a Civic instead.
