Having trouble buying a fit . . .
Hello ~ ^^ I've been a lurker around her & finally decided to make an account. Anyways I've had my eyes set on a 2010 blue sensation pearl fit sport AT for months now... I've only found about 3 of them in the dealerships(in las vegas). No matter how much I try to negotiate with them- they don't seem to wanna go lower than 19000 out the door -_-
I think that's a tad expensive...
What did you guys pay?
How did you get the price that you did?
I heard some people print certain papers of the msrp or something out from websites so the dealers can't trick you or anything..what do you guys print out!?
dealers can be so unreasonable sometimes
also,do any of you know on how to buy from the actual factory? I heard it can be cheaper than from the actual dealership sometimes.
thanks guys =)

Dealer invoice (16,645) plus destination fee (750) is 17,395. $17,395 x 8.1% sales tax is 18,803.
Edmunds TrueMarketValue puts the market cost of a Fit in Las Vegas at $17,563... with sales tax, that would be 18,985.
Hope that helps.
(I used area code 89101 for Las Vegas)

It's a $215 difference from the "average" that Occam listed from Edmunds. I'm still a bit wonky on the "OTD" number... I always assumed it's the final price after tax, title and other fees... but seeing various so-called "OTD" numbers posted by people have only confused me (as if they are only stating the price BEFORE tax, title, etc). In any case, if it does include the fees... you're getting as good as or better than the Edmunds average.

I went through the same thing. Already own a 2009 Base Fit Auto. For the last month, have been looking for a second Fit (2010 Sport Auto).
All the local dealers wanted between $19,200-$19,700 OTD.
Finally, yesturday, two dealers were fighting over my business and I bought that second Fit.
2010 Sport Auto TW for $18,400 OTD. Included factory floor mats and an agreement to cut and program the two extra keys I bought from CollegeHillsHonda.com.
It takes time, but they will give a better price.

i got my 2010 tw ge8 for 19k otd, but it came loaded with a lot of accessories like door moldings, tints, arm console, door sills, and cargo cover. if they wont drop the price, see what they would throw in to make up the cost. when you went through the internet deparmtent did you call them? or did you get an online quote...what i did was get an online quote and then make each dealer beat each others quotes.

If you really want a new one and can get a deal around MSRP, there is no shame in that. You've tried hard, but as observed by others, many dealers are selling Fits faster than they can get them.
However, if you're willing to consider a used one, the used market is fairly good. We are shopping for a used 2009 Sport, and we have about a dozen quotes from various places with about 250 miles. It seems fairly easy to get one with 10-15k miles for around $16k out the door (only 3% tax here). A couple of them at that price range are even Honda certified.

I would say the same as others...The fit is in demand right now so dealers don't need lower their prices on it...simple supply and demand but can really vary depending on the are you live in.

well i was offered 18400 OTD . is this a decent price?
What options would you suggest to get thrown in for free if possible?
I've been talking through email so I'm not sure if he'll "adjust" the price once i actually go to the dealership

1) get lots of quotes by email. Tell them I'm ready to purchase right away.
2) decide on one I like, and ask a few questions. Has it been smoked in? Any paint blemishes? Even tire wear? etc.
3) If I like the answers, make an offer. I use language to this effect to express that I am serious and ready to buy: "If you can sell it for $18,000 out the door including floor mats, I will give you a deposit over the phone today and then setup a time to come in."
I don't like to ask for options unless they are things that I would pay for anyway. Floor mats are the only think that interest me on the Fit. I will definitely need them, and I would be willing to pay for them. The dealer might be able to save me $100 while only costing them $50 (I'm making those numbers up, but you get the idea).
In contrast, I won't ask for a cargo tray. I don't want a cargo tray. Even if they throw in a $100 tray, it still costs them maybe $50, and I'd rather they just take that $50 off the price.
Sometimes people get a few free oil changes and tire rotations as part of their negotiation, which might be something to ask for.

I hit the local internet sales departments of 6 dealerships. Once they gave me their price, I emailed each with the lowest and asked each if they could beat it. Some responded some dropped out. I did that one last time but when I asked for bottom line OTD price, they ALL stopped emailing. Then I picked up the phone and started asking. It went pretty fast as the FIT sells well and therefore there is little incentive to reduce the price. I got a base MT 2010 out the door with sound proofing ($200) for ~ $16420.00
Note: Base, MT, sound proof and nothing else. All fees, taxes etc included.
