cargo bed?

I usually leave my rear seats folded down, and I regularly haul a lot of equipment. Is there something available like the cargo tray that fits the entire area with seats folded down? I can imagine something like the bed of a pickup truck in sections with hinges, so it might fold up to a manageable size. If such a thing exists, I need it!

There's a DIY in this forum about cutting industrial floor mats to fit. I have one for the "trunk" and another for the back of the seats when folded that I keep rolled up when not in use.

Pro: Only cost you about $30
Con: No lip like the cargo tray has to catch liquid spills.

I'd make a template out of paper, use it to create a custom mat, and make your own lip out of flexible solid rubber weatherstrip and quality adhesive, applied with a glue gun.

I used two industrial door mats from Lowes. Cost about $30. I have thought about connecting them together with library bolts/sex bolts/whatever they are called, but they are just fine as two seperate pieces. I regularly haul scuba gear, which ends up getting wet and dirty, and so far the mats seem to hold most of it in. Of course, if you spill a lot of water, it would eventually run to the edges and get the underlying carpet wet.

There are a lot of options.

All I can say is make a trip to your local Lowes, or Home Depot type store.

I have the Honda OEM all season Floor Mats, which in the rear do not cover the hump. So I went to Lowes and bought their bulk off the roll indoor outdoor runner type carpeting. For 5 bucks I got more than enough to make a nice durable carpet piece that runs between the two matts and covers protects the middle section.

You could easily fashion a mat of any size or shape. But as posted above their might even be better options available in actual door mats.

In anycase, that is where I would start. Much cheaper options available than pre-made mats.

Thanks for the tips! One of my requirements is that I be able to load something heavy into the back and then slide it forward. So, I can't have anything with too much traction.

I will head to a home store and see what I can find.

well if i needed a cargo tray/mat for my fit, i'd get the honda one and cut off the front vertical lip and then make a template of the rest of the cargo area with the seats down, take it to honda and see if it matches or even comes close to the cargo trays that honda has for the other car models, cut appropriate lip and secure the two together with ......hmmm ok thats the hard part but it sounded good! LOL
good luck man

I flattened out a BIG cardboard box so it's double thickness when laid out. It slides on the carpet and it's easily replaced if it gets beat up or dirty. I creased it along the corrugation so when the seats are folded up it protects the back of the seat and cargo floor. Not mush to look at but functional.
