CT Fit Drivers - Tint Questions!!!
I'm in CT and am thinking of having my windows tinted.
Have any of you had your windows tinted here in CT... at the legal level? What levels did you use on each of the window? Also, where is the best place to have it done? What costs will I be looking at? And, what about the downtime... can they do it in a couple of hours... or do I have to leave it?

gf did her maxima a total tints in manchester, ct. costed her around 150. they were done 2.5 yrs ago, and not a single bubble. only the driver and pass. side need to be legal the back two and the back window can be as dark as you like. Hers are all illegal and we have only gotten pulled over once in 2.5 yrs. and only got a warning at that.

I'm in Ohio but figured I'd chime in.
My Tint cost $200 35% all around from Ziebart. They did mine in 4 hrs.
CT laws are 35% on front sides and rear side windows. Back can be any %.

Same at total tints, about 4 hrs. It was right down the road from my work so i just dropped it off and walked to work and at lunch it was done. The CT state troopers will test your windows with a tint meter. That was the first time i heard a cop tell me to please roll my window up.

I always thought that even the back side windows had to be legal limit also, and that rear window could be anything. And the windshield could only be tinted at the top. But, of course, that's why I'm asking... I'm so confused.
So, I'm thinking maybe 35% on passenger and driver.... 20% on rear side windows and 5% on rear.
Is that Kosher or will the thing look kinda strange with the differences?

How is your tint holding up? How long have you had it?

Just make sure when you clean your windows on the inside you don't use a glass cleaner with Ammonia.

I got mine done at a place in Bridgeport, but I honestly forget the name of the place. I also can't remember how much I paid - maybe $130?
I've got the receipt somewhere, though - there's a 3 year warranty. 35% all around for me, I don't like any darker. It took them a couple hours.

I haven't bought a Fit yet, but I just had my bimmer tinted. My bimmer is black with black interior. I went 35% all around and then 50% on the windshield. All llumar ceramic tint which increased the price. I paid $422 for the bimmer (then another $155 for the windshield later), but will probably try to find a cheaper place to do the Fit so long as they have llumar or 3M ceramic tint. I picked a ritzy shop to do the bimmer, but honestly, I don't think they were worth the extra money. I'd just make sure to find reviews on your local shops, that they use 3M or llumar ceramic tint, are insured incase they screw up your car beyond the tint, that they are established and will back up their work with warranties and maybe even ask...after they start....to see the box of tint they are working from to make sure you are getting what you pay for. I have read some people paying for quality tint and being slipped the cheap crap. I have had the tint for nearly a month now and driven by numerous cops and no problems.
You can get tint that is just for looks on the cheap. It will do virtually nothing against UV light protection. You can get metalic tint that will protect against UV light, but will also block AM radio waves, your navigation systems and I think cell phones as well. Or you can spend a bit more $$ and get ceramic tint and have UV protection without worry of your nav system, am recepton or cell phone being interferred with.
I like the 35% tint. Not too dark and you can still see into my car fine. Seeing out of it is no problems at all at anytime. The 50% tint on the windshield looks like it came from the factory that way. The completely blacked out limo type tint just looks like crap to me though, so get an idea what you like.
Should note a dark inerior will make the tint look darker as well. Sometimes I think I shoulda went 40% all around and I may do just that with the Fit.
