How are your OEM tires holding up tread-wise?

Had my car serviced today and while not at the wear bars yet, they're down to 2/32 of an inch, so doing a penny test, Abe Lincoln's head is barely visible. I have 31,000 miles on my Dunlops, which is okay i guess, but I was kinda disappointed being these are regular all-seasons and not summer tires. I was hoping to get 50,000 miles at least. If you have Bridgestones or Dunlops tell us how theyre holding up.

I had about 38k miles on mine when the car was totaled. I don't recall which brand they were, but I was on target tread-wide to replace them around 45k.

The Bridgestones have a UTOG of 300, and the Dunlops are 340 (both are LOW numbers), so 50k would be out of the question, my Dunlops will be due here soon around 32-35K

Interesting note..........
the tires on the Bugatti Veyron only last 6k miles and a replacement set of 4 tires costs $17,000.00Name: signs053.gif

ohhh yeah i was watching that on National Geographic today too. that is crazy. i don't think that picture represents the tires they use tho. they use like a really low profile tire for stock.

Hi,

I have done 17000KM on my stock dunlops (175\65 r15) however they have much less tread left than my mums GD3 with brigestones (stock 185/55 r15). Shes done nearly 30000KM and it looks like she will get another 30000KM at the least). Alignment is fine.

I dont think ill get more than 10000km more out of the dunlops. Iv been thinking of going 195/60 (only 1% difference in overall diameter) or 195/55 (3% differance). Anyone have comments on this, mileage, handling etc. I mainly want the wider tires because i dont like the skinny cheap look of the stock 175s. The price difference is not much.

Regarding tire abuse (I like spinning the tires on takeoff once in a while, like maybe 2 or 3 times every 2 weeks). Does this drastically wear the tires?

I have this car for about a month. tires seems to be holding up fine. although i worry if im going to wear them out quicker by driving over roads that have been broken up for repaving. anyone know if the warranty covers replacements after a certain amount of time?

My 2007 Fit Dunlops are doing great. I've just rolled 17,000 miles on them and the guys who put on the new rims said that they looks great and had more miles to go. I have them rotated at the time of each oil change.

I have 14,000 miles on the stock dunlops and am down to the wear bars on the front and nearly that much on the rear. I've rotated every 5,000 miles, but I think the two gymkhanas I've attended in the fit have had something to do with the wear.

I have about 46,000 miles on my tires. It's to the point where I plan to ride them out for the summer. Hopefully into November where I can find a snow tire. (Then next spring get something like some RPF-1's with a summer tire.)

It'll be close though. As the summer storm season comes along, I won't be putting up with any hydroplaning. Once I feel that start to happen, I'm definitely getting new tires. Probably all-seasons again depending on when I need to change.

My Honda service guy puts them @ 32K or so. I'm looking to replace them when needed [they tread out or can't handle winter] with the Cooper CS4 Touring. I put a set on my daughters 07Yaris and they run real smooth. A bit off the MPG's, but less than 1% and there's room to spare there.

I'm only 3wks on mine so I've a bit to go - but I can tell those Cooper's will run smoother. K_C_

At 6,500 on them, it's too early for me to say. I had to replace one front one though, after smashing it in a really bad pothole about a month ago. It got a nasty lump in the sidewall. I don't think the stock dulops hold up to much abuse. I watch for potholes more closely now, but most of them have been fixed around here. When the dunlops are done, I may go to bridgestones.

22k on mine, 5/32 on fronts, 7/32 on rears (before rotation). At this rate will be looking for new tires at 30k. I can hardly wait! Stock Dunflops are Sh&*T!. Will be looking to go to 205/50/16's at that time. The question will be- which tire? So many choices at that size...

My stock Bridgestones lasted all of 25K miles. I just mounted a new set of Yokohama Avid Envigor in 195/55/VR16, with a 540 treadwear rating.

To be honest I'm secretly happy. Definitely going to 205/50's. I'm deciding whether to go all out and get michelin pilot exaltos or the very inexpinsive yokohoma s drives. The sensible part of me wants to go for the yokos but the other part of me is saying u get what u pay for. Any ideas or other tires I should be looking into?

My stock Dunlops were just about down to the wear bars at 42k, but I was starting to feel hydroplaning on the highway so I elected to replace them.

Probably could have used them for another 5k or so, but why take the chance?

I have 40,XXX miles right now and the Bridgestones are still fine. Going to replace them once they start to cord. I rotate the tires every 6,000 miles.

I went 205/50s with Falken Ziex 512s and I love them. I have almost 5k on them and soon time for a rotation. I had the Bridgestones and they only lasted until 26k or so. They should have been changed sooner but I waited them out. I really hope these tires last longer. They are really quiet on the highway and are great in the rain. THey have that center rain groove which seems to help quite a bit. I got them from Discount tire for a pretty good price. They had the stock dunlops listed but they were on a very long back order.

Can't help you with wear info concerning the OE tires, since I kept our winter tires-Michelin x-ice xiIIs, fantastic in snow-on the factory steelies. We're now running General Altimax 195-60-15 on Sport Edition wheels for three season duty. What a difference compared to the skinny crap that came on our 09 Base! The Generals are quieter, smoother, and grip much better, of course. They're also a pretty good deal at TireRack. Sure, the TPMS light is on, but I really do check tire pressure regularly on all our family fleet vehicles.

31K and 1 tire is at 3/32. The other 3 are at 5/32. I suppose its getting close to replacement time. I have OEM Bridgestones.
