Have you purchased the J's ECU? That would be my first mod if I had the Japanese model.

Nice storage tray and firms it up nicely
This is no grocery-getter, my friend...it clearly states in the Honda Fit owners manual in section 17 3a, "use extreme caution when behind the wheel. Excessive and uncontrolled use of the accelerator could result in whip lash, liver laceration, retinal hemorrhages, and in some cases death."

Cool thread for sure...I don't keep up a lot on here, but its interesting to read threads like this when I do. Me personally, i'll never get rid of the spare & jack, that just seems like the worst idea ever whether they weigh 30lbs or not.

The elimination of unsprung weight and rotating mass, cutting down on rolling resistance or not adding more by using smaller cross section tires surprised the hell out of me on VW Beetles and Rabbits many years past so those were the first things I did followed by the KWSC base kit..... There is a point where it is cheaper to increase the power to weight ratio with an increase in power rather than a reduction in weight but when you are building from the ground up you can do better with weight by just not putting it on in the first place .....I am having to add a little extra weight under the hood but what is going in is mostly aluminum and a little carbon fiber. I have taken off a few pounds while saving for this stuff and that will help too.... Cars today just have way to much stuff on them that really isn't needed but you can't buy them any other way. ... I drove a few old VWs around with only a drivers seat and 1 or 2 gallons of fuel out trolling for suckers at the hangouts where there were guys looking to race but that was before most people on this forum were around and I would never do anything like that these days.

Dang Tork, you beat me to it. I formed two styrofoam pieces to fit where I took the spare out. Lightweight and holds up the back platform. I actually slept in the back a few nights ago, lol. Don't judge I was playing hold 'em at the Indian Casino in Oklahoma and needed a break, so I went outside and slept in my car!
I also removed the rear wiper and assembly, like Tork. I keep only minimal wiper fluid in the resevoir. I took out (but put back in) the plastic molding in the back section. I know I'm forgetting something...

At least with the FlashPro I could do my own tuning versus just a preset flash. Somehow I have a feeling my and probably others wish will not come true and the J's ECU will be the way I go. Power Enterprise has a solution that they use with their supercharger kit, but for the price they are asking it just seems INSANE.

Agree and I encourage everyone to pester Hondata with emails asking about a Flashpro...I've done so twice now. Until we have a legitimate tuning solution, the Fit is a sloth.
Do you have any experience with AEM? I know nothing about their engine management systems...

I haven't had any experience. Just used K-Pro on my 5R and Snisen previously. I put the question up on their forum before about the FlashPro, of course no response. Now that they recently released for the R18 Civic, maybe the Fit is next in line. Really no reason for it not to be.

99.99% of my driving is urban. I have a can of Fix-a-flat behind the passenger seat (you can see the "bulge" behind passenger seat in the pic on the first page). AAA 24 hr roadside assistance was included with the warranty when I bought the car. When/if I commute on the highway I stick the spare back in....it's really not hard. I open the hatch, lift the cardboard, and slide the spare/jack back in.

LOL. This is just further proof of how awesome the Fit is...and the people who own them

Just for reference, the brace underneath the hood is there not just to support the sheet metal, but it is also there with strategically placed "notches" so that the hood will crumple at a pre-determined pattern a.k.a "crumple zone".
I don't know if those crumple zones will make the difference between life or death in an accident severe enough to damage the hood, but it is definitely there for a purpose.
Keep up the good work!!!!

All you have to do is wait for someone to get around to making the mounts and that could happen being that the GE is such a popular car and that there are people that are serious about performance buying them. I started looking to Hondata when I first got my car 4 years ago and by getting the KWSC and doing the upgrade am finally going to get it.... There is a company in Italy and I believe Taiwan that is doing ECU reflashes for the GEs.... A freak named LEK has had his done. If you find that an AEM FI/C tuner will do what you want let me know, I may not get around to putting mine to use.

^^^ Texas Coyote,
I see. Again my post was just for reference as blackndecker said that the brace probably has an insignificant role in how the hood crumples.
I'm not here to burst bubbles. It is your car and you can do as you please.
Deffinitley looking forward to other mods on the weight loss regimen of your GE8 blackndecker!!!!

The reason I ask is because I dont really know how the OP would cut out the braces for his quest on weight reduction. He could cut out a section that has the said notches for all I know IF the OP does not know what those are. I'm thinking as long as you cut a section of the hood brace, whether you avoid the notches or not, IMO it will some how affect how the hood crumples because the brace is not connected as one anymore.
The fact that he said that the hood has an insignificant role in force distribution/absorption makes me think that he probably does not know about those notches. I'm not saying he definitley does not know, but just gave my input "just incase he does not know".
I don't want to get flamed so I would like to reiterate that I'm just giving my input and I am not trying to derail the topic. Pardon me if this has somehow side tracked the topic.
