Cost to paint a front bumper on a 2009 fit?
how much does it cost to paint a front bumper for a 2009 fit sport?
I rubbed the bottom loading it on a trailer and the paint cracked and pealed a bit wonder if i need the whole bumper painted or if they can spot and reclear it.

for cost it always varies from where you want to take it and the quality. you can spot and reclear it but it will look off, its always best to repaint the whole bumper than just a spot unless its a tiny chip or scratch. from what ive seen you will probably spend between 300-600? maybe cheaper if your lucky or maybe more.

all i would need is the lower part below the fog light edge repainted.
I guess a really good painter could match it up well. I will have to call around on Monday i guess.
\i definitely wouldn't pay $600! im hoping $200-300 and I will shop around

it really depends on the shop. if its just a lower part that would be hardly noticeable then just go for a match. that would be the cheapest route, its just some people are more anal about how the car and paint looks. good luck though.

a good painter should be able to spot blow it it in and feather it nicely.
it would be a waste to paint the whole bumper. I know some cheap places, but i want a decent job. I would be willing to pay 200-300 so we will see what happens!

Base coat clear coat is easy to spray but the prep and price of paint and materials are a bitch.... It take a painter with a lot of experience to match the paint that is on the car already.

When they had to pull the front bumper to fix the peeling paint on the right hand seam, Honda covered it under warranty and did a great job. They gave me the invoice and it would have been nearly $300.00 if I had to pay for it. They sanded, painted and clear coated the entire front bumper and lip. This last time they just pulled the front bumper and spot painted the area that was peeling. You can't tell the difference and they did put on the washers which I hope will prevent it from happening again.

Hey canuck901,
Did some of the same kinda damage to D-MzFiT and "if" all the damage is close to the bottom of the spoiler I got away with a spot repair, but the damage was only 2" up from the bottom of the spoiler. What I did was sand with dry 180 then wet 400 filled the gouges (tall curb rash) and gray primer-color coat-cleared with an air brush. 2 weeks later wet sanded with 1500(lightly) and hand bufffed with rouge H/D and then micro finish. It's under the fog light on the P.S.
So ya it can be done with patience and some practice.
Good Luck

In my 2008 Sport, I hit a very high (about 6 inches) square curb, scraping most of the bottom of the front bumper, took it to a local VERY reputable body shop.
Sand, paint, clearcoat = $232 including paint and labor
I doubt it would be much different in a 2009-10
But prices vary widely depending on region.
But I would wait till the middle of summer, when they have a lower work load, the are more likely to give a lower price.
EDIT: Just for a comparison, I also took it to my honda dealer (which has an auto body department). They wanted $675. Pretty outrageous!

In my case, it was 232 for the entire bumper, which I feel is a very reasonable price.
They took the entire bumper off, sanded, painted and clear coated it. Which was cool cuz I also had some paint chips from gravel.
They told me that I could just do the spoiler (which was really the only damaged part) for $175, but the color probably wouldn't EXACTLY match.
I asked why it was still so much, and he said it was cuz even though they were just going to do the spoiler, they still would have to remove the entire bumper.
I said f**k it and just do the whole thing. That way the color matches, and the paint chips get repaired.

that is a great deal, for the whole bumper....i would take that in a second! haha, mine isn't bad at all, its scraped and paint chips below the fog light on the drivers side.
I assume a real good painter could spot it in and clear it and match it up well.
$232 is totally reasonable, thats what Im hoping to pay!
