How to get 38mpg. How to get 25mpg.

How to get 38mpg. How to get 25mpg.
So I see alot of questons about how some drivers get such good mileage. I think this may help. It is, of course, all about where you drive, not how you drive.
During this trip I achieved ~38MPG (and it happens to be my drive to work everyday, thus why my overall mpg is so great)
Notice that when I do stop I show no mercy on the brakes or the gas but when I am cruising on the highway I always use cruise control.
On this trip I only got 25mpg:
The only difference was that I was driving in the city with stop lights and stop signs. Every point you see on the graph where I am not moving is a point where I am consuming fuel but not moving (the biggest reason for bad fuel economy) Hypermile all you want but moving out of the city will do you much better
So if you are having trouble with MPG's focus more on your route than your technique, I feel like these graphs help demonstrate that.
(data is provided via a tracking device installed in my OBDII port that I am testing for work. Who knows you might have one in you car some day. We are testing them out to see if we can offer a discount to customers who are willing to install them and drive safely (unlike me) when they are on the road) On a side note the fit is not capable of extreme acceleration I've tried.
tl;dr
Regional differences cause the majority of the difference in MPG between fitfreak drivers.

That's a nice graphing of the drive, but I can see this benefitting the insurance company big time when it comes time to make a claim for something. On that note, I don't really see that as a bad thing because there is way too much insurance fraud on both sides of the fence.
Or on another note, the police tapping into this setup and issuing tickets without even having seen you speed. Bad enough with cameras, but now they can sit back down another donut and check online.

Oh, boy, another government mandate on the way. I can see it now. Every time you exceed the speed limit, this device flags the police department having jurisdiction, and a ticket is automatically issued.
"And the money keeps rolling in..."
Forgive me. but I sometimes fail to see how being able to compile vast amounts of data on everything everybody does is a "good thing".

I drive up and down hills with mixed highway/city driving and I get an avg of 35mpg. just this last tank got me 39.4mpg with very mild hypermiling techniques. If I drove 65mph and be very gentle on the throttle I think I can break into 40+ mpg easy.

oddly enough my mileage improved from 32 to 37 mpg just by putting the cheapest octane gas in it. I tried putting the 92 and 89 octane, and got less MPG than with 87! must just be because it's new.
My old Monte Carlo SS got much better mileage with the 92 octane. But I had 8 years on it and around 80,000 miles.
I also keep it in cruise control, about 58 MPH.. I drive 40+ miles to work and back everyday, usually don't use it on my 2 days off. there are lots of hills for several miles of my journey. Just today I calculated 36.2 MPG .

Lol, the device doesn't record your location so it would be impossible to get a speeding ticket. It's planned to be optional, just an opportunity for an extra discount for people who wouldn't find this intrusive.
