i noticed this the first week with my car deffinatly a plus for AT
my paddles to the trick aswell , x2 for ridin slammed (soon 4 me )

 

"Clutch less MT?" No clutch = no MT in my book.

Disclaimer: I make no judgements about MT vs AT. Drive what you like and like what you drive but I scoff at the idea that a tranny without a driver operated clutch is a MT.

 

agreed. the clutchless-doo-dad may be cool, and faster than a M/T but its not a MT unless its got all the aspects of one.

To the OP, maybe you should have waited if you really wanted the MT. There was a member who was in your situation and I beleive they ended up paying more just to trade there AT in for a MT. goodluck!

exactly, and or when the car is shared other family members that cant drive manual, otherwise if someone can drive manual i'm sure they pick the manual over the auto, manual has so much more control over auto, faster and not to mention saves gas

I definitely know what you mean. I live in Temple City, go to work in Downtown LA, go to school at GCC, then back to Temple City. There's traffic everywhere in LA.

That's not always the case. Before I got my GE8, my DB8 was my daily driver/touge/track car. I was doing repairs a lot because of all the stress that I'd put her through. So I decided to get a new reliable daily. I thought about getting the MT, but then I realized all the time I spend driving in traffic. Yeah... I'm glad I got the AT.

 

yeah, i think they are dual clutch, people are reffering it as cutchless for some reason

and i think it will depend on the person, cause i dont have a problem stuck in traffic in MT, while people are inching forward at the traffic lights, i just enjoy the wonders of MT, but AT will help especially if its a job to drive all day and deliver things, most company i know of cars will be AT

 

i have had 4 cars before this that were all MT and i love driving a MT but i wanted an AT/DD that i could drive to work in trafic or on long trips to make it easyer, plus i still have MT toys to play with on the weekend

 

MT is more fun, IMO, but an auto sure is easier in traffic going to work. Since I bought my base MT, been trying to get another Fit with Auto. Seems that whatever dealer I go to, they have the right car with the wrong tranny, or the right tranny with the wrong car. Finally gave up and will stick with one Fit.

 

Yep, especially important in a low powered car like the Fit.
With a V6 or V8, auto trannys are fine by me.

Hmm, the EVO X SST Transmission does have *TWO* clutches - it doesn't have a torque converter, nor is it CVT.

The only thing it doesn't have is a operator actuated clutch - the car's electronics does it for you. The fit is my daily driver so it had to be AT (California Traffic in general) but the sports car's I've bought over the years were all manual.

 

Adding clutch(es) and allowing the electronics (or even the driver) to operate them without use of the third foot pedal is a modified AT in my book. The the third pedal is really the main reason I drive a MT. All ATs allow you to manually change gears (and force the car to downshift or whatever) in one way or another. Over the years, the options have increased for those seeking an AT with a MT driving feel but I still consider all these cars ATs or hybrids.

 

I enjoy driving MT, but I got the the fit with AT as I enjoy the convenience more. Has anyone bagging on the AT actually spent any time driving an AT fit in S and using the paddles? It's a nice experience!

The clutchless/dual clutch systems sound more like modified AT's, rather than modifying MTs (using an existing AT, change paddles to a shifter, and software to not let the trans automatically shift out of the selected gear- done!). I'm also thinking the auto companies are calling it a manual so they don't scare away buyers that don't understand the new technology.
