Potential buyer! A couple questions first

Looked at the civic but love the idea of a hatchback way too much. Not sure I want a car that is a tenth the population. Civics are too common...

What do you think of the fit after driving a 91 Accord? I am driving a 91 Accord EX Special Edition right now that might soon become my sisters allowing me to get a Fit.

- The Accord's 5-speed MT is pretty nice but the Fit's is superb. The clutch is way better on the Fit.
- "Normal" cruising on the Accord is done usually below 3000 RPMs. I have the Fit cruising at over 3000 RPMs routinely and as others have mentioned, power band is higher than that. Gearing is shorter on the Fit too, so again, for "normal" driving, I am in 4th and 5th sooner than I am with the Accord.
- Power-to-weight ration feels about the same, so I feel like acceleration is about even between the two cars. But I have a DX and IIRC, your EX is tuned differently so YMMV.
- The Fit is lighter, corners better, and is way more maneuverable than the Accord. The steering is tighter on the Fit and the brakes have a firmer (sportier) feel to them. The Fit asks to be driven hard because of its sporty driving characteristics while the Accord feels like a nice little sedan. Nothing wrong with that, just different.
- Obviously, cargo hauling is no comparison. Fit wins that hands down.
I tell anyone looking to replicate the feel of a car like my 91 Accord to buy a Civic. I test drove it and it feels like an up-to-date version of my car but with better gas mileage. But if you want something sportier with better room inside and more cargo handling, get the Fit. Both cars are nice though. I drove a lot of cars before making a decision and still think Honda makes the best car in this price range.
Hope that helps.

Ditto on the Silverstar Ultras and adjusting them higher. Works perfectly. My wife hates the Fit clutch, but only because she won't take the time to adjust to it. (She drives a Solstice M/T normally) I like the Fit M/T better than about any other I have driven. Smooth as any can be.

I had a 91 Accord 2Dr. Coupe EX 5 speed as a DD and my wife had a 95 Accord 2 Dr. Coupe auto as a DD, mine got crashed and I bought a used 02 S-2000 and hers got flooded and she bought a new 09 Fit Sport Auto, the only thing I find inconvenient with the Fit is the suspension is very hard even compared to my S-2000. I upgraded the headlights to Sylvania Silverstar Ultra and that made a big difference. Otherwise we both love the car, I drive it on weekends only. It takes corners very well.
