I thought about a new Civic a couple weeks ago. However, the price is way too high. In fact for a smidge more, you can get a really nice CR-V. We bought the CR-V, ('13)and kept the Fit. The new CR-V gets mileage no far off from the fit, at least in town.
Damn fine car.

But as far as performance, how does the Fit perform at high speeds? Say, 90 MPH? I currently have a Civic, and sometimes when I'm late...well, you know...
my 2011 sport driven above 100mph going to california from vegas is stable
NO shaking/vibration, its stock NO aftermarket rsb etc...its NOT fast but definitley NOT slow...

AT or manual?

As for the CR-V - the mileage stats I see for it are less than for the Civic / Fit, and it would be harder to park.

Buying *any* car brand-new rarely makes sense.

Which realistically covers what, the dome light?

So what? That's not worth the couple of grand in value lost as soon as it's driven off the lot.

I should think ONLY in town. I had both and while I can hit 40mpg on the highway in the Fit, I was never (not once!) able to hit 30 with the CRV. It was very frustrating to me.

I drove 2dr civic as a loner while my Fit sport was having some accessories added and the ride wasn't as good, the headroom was a joke and it did not feel near as sporty to drive.

I have been contemplating a civic recently because we are having a tough time finding a car seat for the little one we are expecting in 4 weeks. I looked at an SI sedan, because if I am going to get a civic it has to be an SI. After checking one out, and even installing a car seat it in, I just can't warrant trading my 12 fit for a 12 civic. I get amazing mileage (38 mpg average over 18k vs. an estimated 31 on the SI) so I will just make due with the space because infant car seats apparently don't FIT into anything other than huge SUV's. I love driving my car and the addition of a cool sounding axleback (Spoon N1) just made it feel fast even though it isn't.

I'm hoping for some Hondata love so maybe we can get in on some of the cool power upgrades like a supercharger.
