Can you get 12-15 hp gain and no torque lost for $900 with the right Intake + Header + exhaust setup?

I'm considering:

PRM intake + T1R header + T1R classic exhaust

I don't think T1R has a header for the Ge8. Do they?

Yep, cast in head exhaust manifold.

It seems the stock catback is efficient and amazingly light weight.
If I remember right, the HKS makes an iffy 2HP and somebody else said they were not going to make an exhaust because little would be gained !?!?

This thread is most of your options. Though lightweight wheels such as 16" RPF1 will help some also.

a pic of the 'cast in head' exhaust manifold/header. Bottom pic shows the shape of the exhaust runners cast INSIDE the head

Most people that are looking to add "power" are really looking to improve performance and that can be done in one of two ways; add hp, or drop weight. As Tork referenced, the best way to add power to the GE8 is to shed a few pounds (especially in the unsprung weight arena) such as wheels. As for actually adding HP, I read somewhere that one of the Intakes (PRM?) provides a few hp in gain more than most other intakes (not that the gain on any in the GE8 is much).

In short: the GE8 has an efficient engine but it's small and without some sort of forced induction (or Nitrous), the gains on a small engine will be... small). Add an intake, and get some lightweight wheels is going to be your best overall package from what I've seen to improve performance.

I think you can get 6-8hp for roughly 600 bucks US. Any real gains will come from the Formula Ford program for the L15a. Honda Fit Ff Engine — Autoblog

Big money, honey.

Well that is what I call a down tube or cat delete pipe.

So what's the purpose of it? Just deletes the cat converter to increase flow? But then it won't pass emissions...............

Well the pipe on the right bolts to the head and it would replace the PRE-cat.

The pipe on the left would delete the main cat (I think).

So you could probably use the pre-cat downpipe and still pass emissions with a warm engine. (I did a downpipe pre-cat delete on my 93 RX7 and it still passed)

It is hard to tell for sure, but if the second (left pipe in pic) deletes the main cat then no (if you fit both pipes).
It is a bit hard to tell from the one pic. But it is possible maybe to use the pre-cat delete only, add HP if it flows better and still possibly pass emissions. We need MORE info on that item!
One clue I may have it right is the location of the 02 sensor bungs.

That helps,

so The weapon R is a precat delete and by the braided flex pipe material, looks like a main cat delete also (provided you use both pipes)

Now on the Works pic, it looks like a precat delete also, but the pipe just above the long B pipe looks like it has a new main cat included. (shaped like a cat at least)

With just an intake and exhaust you will get less than 10 hp.

I'm in CA. so my stock cat has to stay on. Will Weapon R sell just the pipe on the right that bolts to the head?

You could just put the cat back on for inspection! And I don't think WeaponR has put it into production yet.

muahaha no inspection in Illinois for the first 4 model years. Best part is they only check the obd codes anyway.

$900 will pay for the first 14 hp of the 45 hp $3000 turbo/supercharger kit that doesn't exist yet.

Not having a stock cat can throw a code. Aftermarket cats usually go bad in a few thousand miles. I have seen a blown out Random cat in just a year.

AJR is making a high flow CAT. This is what AJR wrote:

"Technically there's no header in the GE8. Honda made a cast 1 pce manifold for the exhaust port then merged directly to the catalytic converter. After the primary CAT, there is a secondary CAT as well.

At this point, we will be making a high flow CAT with 200 C.P.S.I. to replace both CATs so beside adding power, we'll keep it street legal as well.

We should have all the prototypes done by March as well as the test report."

Quick Reply: Can you get 12-15 hp gain for $900 with the right Intake + Header + exhaust setup?
