Can you get 12-15 hp gain for $900 with the right Intake + Header + exhaust setup?
#61
Do you need the rear seats? If you don't really use them, then get rid of them. Don't worry what someone else might say, it's not your fault Honda made the Fit in 5 door configuration only. My old EG9 Ferio SiR I gutted out and it was a 4 door. Driving in that thing was like having a buzzsaw right in your head constantly...I loved it!!!

Just to put this out there as well, I know I've said it before: Where are the brave pioneers who are going to make the first GE version of the $40 GD intake? On the GE we are probably going to be paying $60-$80 since we need to relocate the MAF unike the GD owners. My personal idea has been to dremel out the MAF tube from the stock airbox lid and couple it into a basic universal style kit you can purchase from autozone I just haven't ordered an extra lid yet. I have feeling we could make this look clean. Best part is, if we only gain induction noise, at least it was only a $60-$80 mistake. But, since the logic is the same with any SRI we might even see comparable marginal gains.

Are you going to be the teacher, if so I think I will skip this class because I might just lose intelligence. Or I would fail your class because I plan on spending double that just for an exhaust that will net me maybe 4hp, but lose 19.5lbs from the stock setup.
This thread has ran its course for sure.
Didn't know ya'll still postin on this thread lol

The full J's setup. I am still a bit shocked that the 3 pieces cost that much since the piping is only 50mm and the 70RS dual I purchased for the S2000 was right around the same price. Actually I am going to be paying more than that because of the yen exchange. All 3 pieces from J's come up 198,000 +/- yen. TOTEMO takai desu!!! I wanted to go custom Ti piping from a company up in Saitama, but when I contacted them about it, they didn't seem very interested because my Japanese is limited. Still would rather go that route though, because their Ti grade is of a higher quality than what J's uses and they don't mandrel bend, it is all pie cut for the bends.
Most likely though will just end up with the J's.

Enough bashing and name calling guys. Lets get this thread back on topic. The OP asked if a 12-15whp gain could be achieved from I/H/E combo of some sort. People that have this info, please chime in. Dyno charts would be great too. Lets keep the discussion positive.
To the OP:
May I ask you what goal you are attempting to reach by modding your car? The reason I ask is because maybe power mods aren't exactly what'll help you achieve that goal. You may want to look into suspension, tires, or even weight reduction as other have already stated to spend your money towards.
just a thought.

Someone did post about T1R's dyno plot and it was somewhat discredited by people. That can be seen in T1R's shop portion of the site.
To put some perspective into this, J's just posted a dyno plot for their flashed ECU that is being released in 3 days. Gain at the top was only like 7hp. I can't say if that includes the exhaust, air filter and big throttle body. My reading skills are not top notch or if it says if you have those parts they can flash the ECU to include those. So maybe gains are greater.
EDIT: I removed the picture altogether since I don't really have permission from J's to show it. Would rather not ruin the relationship that I have started to build with them over a picture posted on a forum.
And thanks to Lyon for posting about removing the rear seats, I just removed mine. WOW!!!! I really can't believe they weight what they do. I'll post pics of what it looks like in my photo thread.

I wish I could remove my rear seats sucks my sister and her friend rides with me from time to time.
To OP: Um get some Buddy Club QFs! Really light wheel. All I can suggest. Maybe take off your rear seats too lol

Hahaha yeah if you don't need them, for me it is even better not having them because of the 2 dogs. The area was already big with the seats folded down, but now there is even more space and the weight savings...

Maybe I'm blind, but he DID say he redlines between shifts? Unnecessarily going to redline in daily traffic commute is sacrificing the safety of others for selfish eandevors...and that, by all means is stoopid. Not to say I haven't done it, but I certainly don't make a habit of it.

just because I said I'm at WOT a couple times during my commute does not mean I drive erratically. On ramps, highway merges and situations like that I do shift at redline.
If it makes you sleep better, 80% of the time I'm driving to work around 3 am..

Just because you can "feel" the gains from 10-15whp doesn't mean you can "drive"...quit kidding yourself. I've already said my piece, so I'll leave it at that.

Second, we drive a fit. Not a 600 HP monster. Did I say I redline 4th on the way to work? No. The fit is so slow u almost have to redline/drive at wot in NJ when switching lanes or merging or you'll get ran off the road. You really are a special dude, let me tell u. This thread is getting quite ridiculous.
I'm done.

^Oh quit getting butt hurt and move on...
You can say I misinterpret things all you want, but I can say the same goes for you.
I may be a troll, but I'm a troll that's trying to save some heartache and wasted money. Can you really justify spending $900 for a couple of pipes? I sure can't...but that's opinion. Take it as you like, but I'm just being blunt on the matter.
The smartest thing that someone ever said in this thread was "what are the goals for the car?" And no, it wasn't me that said it.

I believe the wheel is around 19lbs. Lighter lugs don't hurt the performance and can only help as that too is mass that is rotating. How much it helps probably couldn't be quantified by just installing them.
jexeffectz, ummm may I ask who do you think you are that you need to save others from heartache and wasted money? Again, if a person wants to spend their money (not yours, we are not fully a socialist society, YET) how is it waste? People like you are so damn annoying, worry about your damn self and not others. People don't need a father/big brother to watch over them all the time. Making mistakes in life is what helps one grow as a person. Am I saying spending money on one's car is a mistake, not at all.
Go ahead and misquote this also and give the retort of a roll-eyes.

EDIT: Nice rims by the way.

^If that's what he wants, then that's fine, but if making good time on the twisties, for example, is something of concern, then maybe the OP can spend the money on a better suspension setup. Or if the OP wants to go faster on straights, then maybe he can invest in forced induction, then there are tires, wheels, etc.
Basically the question has already been answered, but the reason I ask is because knowing the goals for the car gives a better blue print for everyone to give advice to the OP instead of saying stuff blindly. The goal actually plays a big factor into what advice people should give.
