Official: How to park your Fit thread!
I do a lot of these suggestions, its funny to see so many people who do the same things to protect their little Hondas.

48 years of riding, and I'm still alive. If you survive the apprenticeship, motorcycle riding gives you great awareness and avoidance training, although my wife sometimes complains when I swerve away from a potential threat. If you have never seen it before, follow the instructions, and watch this video. In general, I don't believe that most drivers are actually stupid, but they may see only what they're looking for.

claymores to the rescue!
I park out in the closest field I can find and plant claymore minds around my Fit! Took out a tractor with a bushhog on the back of it last week.
Hey it's a slow night made me laugh!!

lucky me at school we have assigned parking spots, theres a giant concrete light post in front of me, and i park in between a jacked truck and a jeep and i usually get there before they do so im always scared to walk to my car after i get out and see giant dents in my car.
oh and off topic, 2 spots away from me theres a versa, vw golf, and vibe all in a row, i thought it would be funny if i was next to them haha

I'm with ya!!
I have ALWAYS bought used cars but back in 1991 I decided to treat myself to a brand new Toyota 4x4 truck. I bought in October and some idiot decided to key the hell out of it in November! It was sleeting and whatnot but I was still out there waxing and buffing. Most of it came out with the exception of about two 12" scrapes that were down to the metal. Pissed me off!
A couple of cars later, and still vowing to by used, the Cash for Clunkers program came up and it only made financial sense to buy another new car, especially since I'd be getting $4,500 for my car that couldn't be worth $500. I was excited and yet hesitant but proceeded to buy my 2009 Fit Sport.
My wife and I went to the movies in the Fit and I parked it out front amongst all the other cars as I didn't want to bring attention to myself by parking in the "middle of nowhere". But that didn't matter. Before I had even made my first payment, some idiot decided to smash my front passenger window. Of course then the glass company totally screwed up the door and the Fit had to go to the body shop. All this within the first month of ownership!
And in regards to your question about parking dead-center within a parking spot......that's a given!
Sorry to hear about your woes but wanted to let you know you ain't alone. There are a lot of inconsiderate ass-holes out there.

If there are shopping carts around, I park on the highest ground in the lot, or if it's level, on the upwind side. And if I have to park next to somebody, I pick the newest and most expensive car possible, on the grounds that they won't want to chip their door edges.
