Ep3 seats into a ge8?

Hey guys I'm looking to track my car a bit this summer and I just can't drive hard in these stock seats and I used to love how my ep3 seats held me in so I decided I want to see how hard it is to get the ep3 seats in, if anyone can help please chime in. Thank you

It can be done and has been done. I personally couldn’t find any threads but winged it and grabbed a set of ep3 seats for 120 that came with an extra seat. Hacked off the old brackets on the ep3 with a DA grinder and some 36 grit sanding pad although you can also drill out the rivets. Grabbed some “carrier bolts” as they’re known from Lowe’s and got matching nuts to go along with them (essentially studs with a flatish stud). Shaved off the paint to expose metal, bolted them on and added some welds to ensure they’re secure. Make sure to cover the seat or you will burn with weld splatter!

Prepped for welding

Was able to retain factory Mount positions by using the fit brackets

mounting solution. If you use nuts and bolts the seat will not slide

You will have to grind down the sides with a grinder or grinding wheel to get studs to fit inside the seat rails

after welding was done a thin coat of spray paint was used to prevent possibility of corrosion and to cover up any grinding that was done

Was able to retain factory Mount positions as well as reuse the plastic covers. Plastic covers not perfect fit, will address later. Don’t mind the blotchy welds as I’m a first timer

Test fitment prior to welding

Looks like it came from the factory. Night and day difference

Don’t mind the dirty seats, can’t complain for the price. Will clean up with time and some elbow grease.

this is a relatively easy project imo although not for the faint of heart. You can easily take it to a welder or shop and have it done. If you do the prep work you might save yourself some money but it takes away the joy of diy. Took me about 8 hours in total. You will need a rivnut tool in order to relocate the passenger side seat belt on to the ep3 seats. Seatbelt sensor was retained, airbags and occupancy sensor will need a bypass in order to turn off light. Have yet to figure it out but I may just use female side adapters and run a resistor for bypass it. Good luck!

side note: passenger side seat uses 12mm nuts to secure brackets. Driver side is riveted in. DA grinder can be used on 3 of the 4 but the last one will need to be drilled out first with a small drill bit and then an 11/16th and a dead blow hammer will take care of the rest.
