Question Hood lifts (hydraulic)

I'm considering buying a Fit. I currently own an '02 PT Cruiser. One of the first things I did on my PT Cruiser was remove the hood prop rod and install hydraulic lifts. It's a simply mod / convenience feature, which makes the hood rise and hold itself up just as the rear hatch does.

Is there such a kit for the Fit at this time? Just curious.

I just emailed Augment Racing here in Japan and asked about an application for the GE. They do make for the GD and I used these previously on my DC5R. What is nice about Augment dampers, you can have them made for stock bonnets or for carbon or fiber bonnets which don't need as much pressure. The problem with the ones released by Tein and others was it was one size fits all in the pressure so if you have something significantly lighter than stock your bonnet would most likely shoot up if you didn't control the motion.

Hopefully I receive an email back in the near future with good news. They are a little more expensive, but come in either a gold aluminum finish or dry carbon.

Gold alumi on GD

Both versions together

Well, it was worth a shot. There may be some in the future. At least it's not as big of an issue as it is on the PT Cruiser. Its factory hood prop is in the rear right corner. The whole prop is about 12 inches long. As you can imagine, this means you can forget it's there and yank the hood down. With most cars having the prop right over the radiator, it's hard to forget.

..FIGS HOOD SUPPORT SYSTEMS..

These guys make hood props for Honda Ridgeline community. Maybe someone can contact them to see if they will make one for the Honda Fit.

Well I received an email back from Augment Racing and was told by Kitami-San that he would like to make one for the GE, but doesn't have a test car. His company is up in Tsukuba City, about 2.5~3 hours north of me, but I replied back asking if he would like to use my car as the test car and one weekend I can drive up and he can measure and what not. I'm awaiting his reply back with good news hopefully.

I saw a couple hood dampers on eBay. This is one of them. It is for GE.
