rims have been CURBED!
can any repairs be made to them....
the rim was caught higher by the lugs since they curve out on the sport models. I was think of sanding, polishing but the groove the curb left is about 2 inches long and a lil deep. damn deteriorated concrete curbs.

Union City? Hummm. is that close to a bigger metro area?
There are guys that you can ship wheels to to get them fixed.
and
I saw a pick-up pulling a big enclosed trailer just last week.
A mobile wheel repair company (probably has a small machine shop in that big trailer) "We repair wheels on the spot" (car dealers use all kinds of services like this all the time)
As far as you doing it? Depends on how deep the rash and your skills.
Alternate
1. Maybe find a metal polisher then you paint them
2. Sometimes you see a set of sport wheels in classified for $400 and you later sell off 2 of them.
Hope that helps a little, sorry for your pain.

There was a DIY with Photos on FocusFanatics.com They used JB weld to fill in then did some work sanding and polishing and finalized it with a paint job.

JB weld is very durable, probably the best bet for a DIY repair.

are you in union city, CA?
i once curbed a wheel and wheel works in santa clara made it look brand new. they're not cheap ($180!) for fixing the lip and re-clear coating my rial daytona race wheel but the work was flawless.

Just curbed my front passenger wheel today. Not horrible, but approx 3" worth of basic curbed damage- not deep, but roughed up on the lip right where rim meets tire. Makes me sick I tell ya. I'm gonna have to at least try some kind of repair because it's bugging the shit out of me. If I stood you 5' in front of the tire and asked you what was wrong with this picture, you'd be hard pressed to see it. But I know it's there and I could kick my ASS for doing this. Oh well.

I just got too close to the damn curb. Thing is though, it's really a 'paper cut' worth of damage. Today I cleaned the car and did the tires and even I had to look closely to find it. I'm glad it's so minor. But it felt major and sounded major at the moment! But really, if I had to fuck up and curb, this is the least damage I could hope for. Not even gonna bother messing with it.
But you can bet THAT ain't happening again!

Ultimate Wheel Care
OOORRRR. You could go the other route. Do exactly Like I did. Get some curb rash from living in an urban area. Move, for obvious reasons of more apartment for your money, then, someone from the lower region of the city you moved out of, decides to go shopping for wheels in the suburbs, and you can go out in the morning to your baby sitting on blocks. After the insurance adjuster and whatnot, besides being late to work, you can work out a deal with the local tireshop and get some other wheels and stickier tires for your troubles. Worked out for me, but now that I have seen an EK hatch rolling around on MY model year wheels...I'm thinking about pickin up a couple cinder blocks to put through their friggin windows. Northeast cities are small towns............
