Has any one done a rear disc brake upgrade on their GE?

It's not madness... Well maybe it is... :)
I'm not sure about the op's opinion, but I am trying to get a certain look and I am going to put a bit of money into it. I have been following but not commenting for some time. I didn't want to start another tread just to be told that there was another thread already for this. I just wanted a 5spd. Mugen Fit and There were NO manual fit sports available. Now I wish I would have just waited because to get the base even close I have to switch out a lot of parts IE expensive. Since I'm spending the $ why not complete the look with rear discs? For me it's not about what's better it's for the look.

You're missing a very key point: the tires. Even the best brakes when coupled to poor tires will have poor brake distances. In these cases the Fit was handicapped with poor tires.

Motortrend Comparison: 2011 Ford Fiesta SES vs 2010 Honda Fit Sport vs 2010 Toyota Yaris vs 2010 Nissan Versa 1.8 SL comparsion test:
2011 Ford Fiesta SES vs. 2010 Honda Fit Sport vs. 2010 Toyota Yaris vs. 2010 Nissan Versa Specifications - Motor Trend
Fit had the WORST braking from 60-0 MPH
fiesta: 116 ft
fit: 139 ft
versa: 136 ft
yaris: 126 ft
The Fit is the best car in the test because it was great in the other categories of the test but it had the longest braking distance.
Fit brakes are shit.

Perhaps Fit brakes good; Fit tires are crap. Braking is no better than the tires can stop.

For those who serious brakes without going broke:
Yes I know the picture shows 5-lug, but this was under the results for a brakes query under 2008 Honda Fit Sport. Brembo Cross-drilled front discs, $145/pair @ TireRack.com.
Hawk HPS Street front pads, $80/pair @ TireRack.com
Motul DOT4, $12-16/bottle where ever you find it, doesn't even have to be Motul specifically
Combine the above with some decent rubber like a V-rated all season and you will see a huge change in braking feel and consistency. Fuzion VRi's are like ~$70/each, so for like ~$500 you have a great DD set up and a competent track setup.
Now to go one step further I am planning on replacing all brake lines with braided SS lines, like the Goodrich kits. While that's in progress I intend to install a brake proportioning valve.
I run this setup on all my cars, the Fit has been left alone this long only for warranty purposes.
Though I would convert the GD3 to rear disc if it was remotely affordable, and everything else I own currently has discs at all 4 corners..

Pads and tires are 95% of the better results.

Having built a production line for both drums and discs I can assure you discs are less costly than drums UNLESS of course you already have a production paid off decades ago and therefore less costly than a new line, including the extracost for drum pieces, in which case cheap couints except where drivers know and need better.

fastbrakes.com has a kit for $975 but that's too expensive. I emailed fastbrakes and they will sell the bracket kit, park brake cables, brake lines and plain rotors for $430 + $20 Shipping. I will have to buy RSX calipers through ebay for $110. Tirerack.com Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads for $46.00 Total price of everything will be $606.
