Jumping out of first?
Anyone have this issue....
Sometimes when I am in first and accelerating, and I put my hand on the shifter, and I push in the clutch, it seems to pop out of first. I cant tell if its all in my mind, it doesnt happen all the time. And its only from first to second. Its like its reading my mind, and jumps into my hand...

Now this is going to sound like I'm grilling you for not knowing how to drive a manual, but it's not entirely your fault.
When you go to shift from first to second, make sure the clutch is all the way to the floor before you move to second gear. My Fit did this for the first few thousand miles until I could adjust my driving and shifting techniques to avoid popping it out of first. I still do it from time to time, but alot less than when it was brand-new.
Hope this helps!

I think it's a combination of the clutch not being to the floor and something to do with first gear that makes it pop like that because I can't do it in any other gear. After a while you sub-consciously learn how to shift without popping it and you don't know what you're doing differently to make it not do that.

Other manual transmissions I've driven let you gently pull the shifter and press the clutch and as soon as it's disengaged the lever moves. With the Fit, if I do the same thing, the shifter pops.
The clutch also has a slight delay. To avoid the "pop" press the clutch and wait a fraction of a second before moving shifter.
