I love my Honda Fit, but .................
I was driving to work today and couldn't help but see the all new Mazda 2 in the showroom for the first time.
So, on my way home I decided to stop off for a first hand look and they offered me a test drive, Wow!!
This car is really sporty and holds the road great. This is going to be one hot little hatchback for the same price.
Anyway, I still love my Fit, but .........................

oh, there's always going to be those what ifs. I've owned three Mazdas and sold a 10 year old Protege to get to the Fit. I'm not holding my breath for the Mazda2 to arrive in the US. I considered waiting for the Ford Fiesta but figured if I bought a Fit now I'd just enjoy it for that much longer.

On the test drive it was like Mazda had looked through all the car forums for problems with cars and corrected them.
I think Mazda's really got it together with this one. Honda must do something better in 2010.

I like the looks and what you say about the way it drives makes it even more appealing.... My fit is going to have to last me until I die unless I eventually find that that the seating position is too painful for me to handle any more and I have to go back to driving a Euro car.... The fit has spirit and function as well as Honda reliability and that is a great combination that is hard to beat.... I am thankful that KraftWerks created such a good system of improving the power output and sure would miss it or have to spend money for a more powerful car with higher insurance premiums.... I don't want to do that.

For some reason I want to say I read the 2 and the Fiesta are the same car underneath. I can't remember where i saw that though

The best thing about the Mazda2/Demio is its light 950kg weight IMO. It's proof that even with concessions to safety regulations and body rigidity, a car manufacturer can still crank out a volume-seller that weighs less than a ton (1000 kg/2200 lb). A lighter car solves lots of issues - fuel efficiency, performance, braking, handling - in one fell swoop.
Think about it: the last car Honda made that was that light was the 1988-91 EF Civic, and its resurrected 1996-2002 cousin the SX8 City. Those hovered at the 950-970kg mark.

I like the looks...of the outside, especially the green, hawt...
Interior...
The shifter is ep3-esque...not sure about the rest of it though...hmmm.
But doesn't look like there are enough cupholders....that's a killer!

yes, we are. autoblog confirmed it a while ago. I'm hoping it's not the happy face version.
yes, the M2 and fiesta will be sharing the same platform and motors. I'm not sure which I like more, they're both very good looking.
while the M2 and fiesta are both sportier than the FiT, they both have a lot less room and storage capacity. they're all great cars but have different strengths and weaknesses.

I must admit that when driving the Mazda 2 it feels firm as if it has been lowered and the seating can be adjusted to a lower sporty position.
Come on Honda, give us a real sporty Fit, not just an added body kit, navi and rear stabilizer bar.

I had liked the Maz3 until I sat in one. I found it to be difficult to get in and out of whereas the Fit is a breeze to enter. Remember I am older. Fit must be old guy's toy. Well I treat it that way except when wife turns me into a grocery getter.

I bought the Fit, but the Mazda 2 makes me feel 18 again.
Update: It also looks like the New Ford Fiesta hit the showrooms today, but it doesn't have the looks of the Mazda 2.
It looks like The Bangkok Motor Show this month will be for hatchbacks this year. Maybe an update for the Honda Jazz/Fit. Lets wait and see.
