Is there a "happy-faced" version of the Mazda2 already?

Last I heard the 2 was actually the last model Mazda signed off before the whole "Nagare" (flow) theme was applied...infamously to the Mazda3 as the "happy face."

This is the real thing. The more I look at it the more I love my Fit.

wow nice pics Lek, the real thing doesn't look as good as the pictures. the tires aren't shined, and the stearing wheel isn't cocked to the right or left.. so it doesn't look nearly as low.

Its coming to canada too - mid 2010 I hear
I like it and thought about it, coming from a protege 5, but needed something now and long term owning wise, I think the fit will hold out longer, esp with the bad roads in montreal, and hold its value moreso.

But its going to be fun soon, with the 2, fiesta, micra, and maybe a vw polo?

somehow I doubt the 2 will cost as much as the fit

but anyways, we need more of these types of cars and I've said before in this class, anything over a 1.8L engine is way too much

Fog openings are huge and ugly. I do like the door handles. Ours seem like ready to come off in your hand when you lift them.

I would get tired of that green soon. We could always spray it Taffy White and call it a Mis-Fit.

Base and Top model in Thailand. The bumper and wheels changes the whole car. I agree that the base model looks better.

Yeah the base model looks better to my eyes too...but there have been worse bumpers for the Mazda2/Demio. The bumper seems to make a HUGE difference to its look. I saw an aftermarket "tuner" one in Option magazine and I hardly recognized it as a Mazda2/Demio from the front.

This was what I was referring to: the Knight Sports Demio (DE-chassis).

Check out the front bumper on that thing...I hardly recognized it as a Mazda2 at first. Not exactly a fan of the rear-end treatment either.

Did they say which engine they're putting in? Anyone have a link with the specs?

Only a matter of time before the MS3 engine swap gets done.

Some cool pictures here:
My '59' Mazda2 Sport 5dr in Spirited Green

I'll take one for a test drive soon as I'm thinking of replacing my 2007 GD Jazz.

Like but i got the fit for its practicality (sp) i was gonna wait for the crz - but realized that i cant move stuff in it like i can in the fit (i've moved three times in my fit and all i needed help with was my matress and couch - everything else fit (pun intended) even my full sized washer and dryer) i agree it looks good but it's not a honda

I had another long test drive in the Mazda 2 a few weeks ago and I wasn't impressed at all. It felt like I was driving in a coke can. It was much smaller than the Fit inside, less power, lots of vibration and very unstable at 100 km/ph.

Looks good, but not the usual Mazda quality.
