Rock to front windshield

So I'm driving and a Ford Explorer decides to pull in front of me, which is fine, then hits his breaks(raining) which is also fine but makes the usual 4-5 car lengths I leave between my car and the one in front shrink to about 2-3 car lengths. As I apply the breaks the first rock hits and about a one second later the second rock hits. My Son, Passenger Seat, says "Holy Crow!!That one did it..look at that crack"
Oh well..what can you do..my Wife says its covered...

Did you run into any problems with parts?

I just met with a safelite tech about the crack on my 09 Fit Sport. He says that because the car is so new, they have to order the windshield moldings from Honda so it will take another 3-5 days. It would also increase my original price quote, which was $275.01 installed.

Same thing happened to me when I was on a road trip to NorCal. The first rock hit and the second rock hit about 30 minutes later. It was the first time I've ever had a windshield crack on me and it happened twice in a matter of 30 minutes. Craziness. I'm going up to NorCal again next weekend. I hope I don't crack the windshield again.

Bojackson: It was a simple install, nothing special and no special parts. Maybe because you have a sport and I have a base?...not sure why the added time and cost..good luck.

Thanks! Looks like I'll have to eat out less for the next 3 months to pay for this baby.

You got screwed. Im pretty sure its the law that your insurance must cover all expenses involved with replacing a windshield. I had to have mine replaced already for the same reason. Cost me nothing. They reused all the moldings, just used extra glue around the windshield. I dont have any increased wind noise or anything.

Also they will not be able to do it in the rain for obvious reasons. Your interior will get wet, and the glue they apply will not stick.

Something sounds fishy. Cant believe the would raise the quote. If I were you I would look into it a bit more. I have the Base model and experienced no problems the day of the repair, or since.

It is a law in Florida, Kentucky, Massachussets, and South Carolina.

bojackson63044 is from Missouri. I'm from California.

So, it's not the law in those places, clearly :P.

But good to know, those 4 states have lucky drivers! I sure wish I didn't have to worry about people spewing shit onto my low angled car.
