Quickest way to add horsepower?
#22
like ive always told people that come in my store wanting to go fast cheap...
Nitrous!!! its the hands down the cheapest way to fast, bout 600 bucks or under and you can have up to 55HP. also weight removal is a good opt as stated before, for every 100lbs is a tenth of sec off 1/4 mile time.

Math is hard

Always tell the wife or gf to lose 50 lbs ( how much do out balls weigh?)

2500 lbs/100 lbs = 25
25 * .1 sec = 2.5 sec (1 tenth = .1)
Your signature is ironic.

That is well and good at 6,000 rpm but what is it doing at say 3-4000? I doubt if many of us are winding up to 6,000 all the time. So for another maybe 2-3 hp is it worth it to possibly void wty? Best to not take any passengers or install pedals for them and have a weight limit.
If that's the case, first thing you need to do for extra power is just step on accelerator pedal a little longer.

Unorthodox light weight pulley set
light weight wheels like Enkei Racing PRF1
That might = about 12HP
That is probably about it (except for removing weight) unless you go nitrous or forced induction
No, each 100lbs removed is closer to 2 tenths http://robrobinette.com/et.htm

Who drives with friends or the girlfriend when trying to go fast? lol Take out every seat. Replace the drivers seat with a lightweight carbon one. Then go on the Kittengolf diet. I eat two small cheap meals a day so I can afford parts. I weigh about 150 lbs.

Here's a zero cost approach. The Fit's 1.5L doesn't really produce much HP until it's over 5K, and it doesn't seem to mind being driven at high engine speeds, so either work your paddles or work the shifter to keep it there when you need the power. When I'm merging on the freeway I keep it in 3rd until I'm done with the inital merging and dicing action, makes a huge difference. Of course, this kills your gas mileage, but that's just too bad .
If you want more power, you could by my '98 M3 Sedan with 78K miles on it, and in perfect, fully-serviced condition. Trust me, you won't be lacking for power.

OP, If you add an Intake and Exhaust, you'll probably be in the 7-10hp range. Add lighter wheels and that will improve your performance as well. As others have said, there are two ways to improve performance, increase power, or lighten the load. With the fit, it's easier to lighten the load then add substantial power. A little of each will give you a decent upgrade in performance because that's really what you are looking for, not necessarily power.

Screw horsepower, I want more torque.
I love my '09 Fit. Great value for the money, flexible interior, and I average around 40 mpg on my 230 mile round trip to and from work (90% highway miles). I just wish a diesel engine was an option. I'd easily have paid $2k more for it.
If I'd have had the money, a TDI Jetta Sportwagen would have been mine.
