Another 09 Front Windshield down.

Yes it is true. I knew it was going to happen to me and it was only a matter of time, but a rock flew down and hit my window. I was pissed at first. there was only a little spidering about the size of a quarter. but then i hit a bump and the spidering shrunk... NOW THERE'S A HUGE CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF HONDA!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there are soooooo many people having this same problem, shouldn't there be a recall? How do we get this done?

I wasn't aware there were a ton of people having this problem. That sucks, how close were you to the car that threw up the rock at the time??

this is from the warranty book...

This New Vehicle Limited
Warranty Does Not Cover:

• Broken, chipped, or scratched
window glass unless it is due to a
defect in material or
workmanship.

Can we Fight this. I believe that there is a defect in the material of the glass... If they are breaking on people all over, dont you think there would be a problem?

What is a "ruck" and where did it "fly" down from?

How can it be Honda's fault if something hit your windshield? It's not a defect.

you could be right about poor quality, perhaps poor design. but i doubt you're gonna get any satisfaction on the issue. try having your insurance pay for it.

Yeah... that's something I don't miss about Jersey. I was paying about 2k/yr on my Integra GS-R with a 500 Deductible and I was over 25yrs old. Now in VT with a Fit and A Ridgeline, I barely pay over $1300/year.

But...

In NJ, I never replaced a windshield. Had 3 cars in NJ for about 10 years. Been here in VT for 5 years and replaced 3 so far. (one Ridgeline, One civic, & One Altima) have also had a number of chips repaired. we drop our Deductible in the winter in case we need to replace another.

What?!?!? That's $2880 a year and with $1500 deductible? Wow! Any previous claims or what's going on there?

2-3 car lenths is pretty close if you were doing over 40 mph. That is a nasty insurance premium that you have. I can't imagine paying that much and also to have a $1500 deductable, epecially on a Fit, lol. My premium with State Farm is $960 a year (50k/100k/50k) with $0 deductable on windshields and or any damage under $800. Then it's a $250 deductable over $800. I'm not trying to brag with that, just stating that I would look for something cheaper if possible if I were you, though I don't know cause I don't live in NJ.

man dude, back in my senior year in high school, some EFFER threw a rock at my car and chipped the window. Now I have 3-4 chip marks on my rear driver window.

I think they are jealous of my new car.. it was only 3-6 days after I got it!!!! so pissed.. but whatever...

i entered my preferred policy terms and immediately got back about 5 offers ranging from $800 to $1400.

I also have a huge crack in my GE windshield.

I was about 10 cars back of a semi and got hit by a pebble. It chipped the windshield a bit, and was going to get it filled the next day. I woke up the next morning only to find a 2 foot crack had formed overnight. Never have I had problems with all the civics I owned getting chips turning into fault line size cracks. BS.

I assumed that this might be a concern with the Fit... seeing that the windshield is ungodly huge. Luckily my dealer has a plan for $2 a month, that I get windshields, keys, door dings replaced/repaired for free.

You guys need to get on new insurance.... for real. $1500 deductible? Is that for comprehensive or Collision?

It has always been a problem even with the GD3 - the windshield is huge, and because we are so low to the ground - a big target. Mine has multiple scratches and small chips. I noticed the last time I washed it more chips on the hood too - wonder if it is time to think about CF hood replacement? Also if anyone has had to have the windshield replaced by something other than the Honda OEM - how has it stood up to rocks and
other flying objects?

Recalls are for defects in the car. Rocks hitting your car is not a defect.

Bought the dealer offered windshield policy, like $200, glad I did after reading this thread.

"Safelight Repair...........Safelight Replace"

Is anybody else tired of that jingle or do they just show it 10 times an hour on the shows I watch?
