First Tank 34.73 mpg

Just filled my new FIT for the first time, 34.73 mpg. I feel like an idiot, get to the station to fill it up and can't figure out how to open the friggin gas door and I had left the manual at home. I kept looking of for a button or handle, nada. Had to drive home(1/4 mile), get the manual only to find out you just press the right side of the door and it opens. Boy do I feel stupid !

Hehe don't feel bad, I couldn't find it either when I was at the gas station for my first tank, but luckily I had the manual with me. Not the biggest fan of the design, but better than some of the lids on other cars that have the finger protrusion so you know it can be opened from outside.

Some guys on here are working into doing a typical cable gas cover release mounted in the interior like on many other Hondas.

Thanks, I just feel bad all these people lining up to get gas and I get my turn and spend 10 min looking for the gas flap release,. I sure some of the people enjoyed my failure, lol

I find manually opening the gas cap to completely suck. It's the one gripe I have. I sorely miss an interior release. When I pump my own gas, it's no problem. But for a while now, I've been going to a full service station for the great price and I don't dare let those guys near the gas door to open it. They'd scratch the crap out of it for sure- not to mention they'd probably fumble with how to even open it too. So I open it myself before I get in the car when I know I'm fueling up and leave it slightly open, so I don't have to get out at the gas station to do it. All of this because there isn't an interior release. Strange, and a pain.

I see you get gas in NJ. But most of the nation doesn't have full serve these days. I don't mind pressing on the gas door at all. Yes, it gets your fingers dirty, but duh, they get dirty when you handle the gas nozzle handle and the pump itself, not to mention any cash you touch in the transaction.

No, I get gas in NY. I don't mind pumping my own gas, but I choose between two stations here- whichever has the better price. Lately, the full serve wins. And yeah, no problem when you pump your own gas, but a drag if it involves an attendent.

Isn't it great driving 300 miles on 8 gallons or so of gas? We drove 450 miles on Tuesday and pulled into a Quicktrip in Missouri next to a Corvette. We were out of there before he was finished. I'm not saying who had the prettier car, though.

Cheers

You don't have to say- we know you did!

When I think that I can get over 300 miles with a little more than one of those red five gallon gas cans, it truly amazes me still.

Just filled up for the first time today too. 297.7 miles and took 7.36 gallons of gas. 40.49 MPG. Wow I am impressed! I traded in my 2005 G35 coupe for this fit to save some money on gas.

I paid $3.04 a gallon for regular gas $22.37 for 297.7 miles. Would have cost me $43.84 in my G35 ($3.24 per gallon of premium at 22 MPG)

3 days of owning the FIT saved me $21.47.

That's high for regular. Out east on long island, I'm getting regular for 2.60 at the moment. I used to love the price drops with my guzzler. Now with the fit, it's just icing on the cake!

I filled up last night for $2.259/gal in Southeast Virginia. It was my first full tank. I got 36.8 mpg, 354 miles and 9.6 gallons. The FE indicator read 40.5.

I was very impressed!
