Lightbulb Remote engine starter - diy

Did anyone install Honda FIT accessory “Remote Engine Starter” before? I looked at the instruction that came with it. It needs HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) to program it. Will a Honda dealer be only my option to program it?

Unfortunately yes the dealer is likely the only one who can program it properly. It is fairly plug and play so you could always install it and then take it to the dealer to get it programmed. I have never installed one and then tried starting it without programming it first so I can't say 100% it will start normally but I suspect it will.

Once it is installed the VIN number needs to be run to obtain the PCM code (for programming the immobilizer to the PCM) and then the HDS needs to be used to initialize the remote start unit to the immobilizer and PCM.

Will Snap-On ODB II diagnostic tool do the trick as HDS? I hate to spend $95 per hour labor charge for 15 minutes job at the dealer.

I honestly don't know if it will do it as I haven't used it on a Honda.
