Fit Ergonomic FAILURE (Inside Line)
#22
Other than the absurd position of the window buttons, Pontiac did pretty good with the Solstice. Other than the hump in the trunk, oh and the awful radio display that can't be made out in direct sunlight (in a ragtop?!). Ok maybe you have a point.

I registered and left this comment:
"I am not going to purchase this vehicle, due to this ergonomic failure which doubles as a safety hazard. Having my arm going through wheel while driving is extremely dangerous. And stupid."

Steve...In spite of all the ergonometric insanity of the Solstice, including the perpetually breaking front cupholder and the 2rear holders that only a triple jointed monkey can reach..it's still the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Coupe bigot. I tried the "rear cupholder" on ours and the drinks just slid off the back of the car...

Seriously though, even older Hondas have this anyway - older Toyotas have this too. The point is probably that to reset your trip meters and computers, it'd be best to do it when you're stationary
Apart from that I think it's nitpicking on Edmunds' part.

Resetting is one thing, but I find myself constantly checking my average MPG while I'm driving. It's fun, and I guess I'm easily bored.
I hadn't noticed it was an ergonomic failure until it was pointed out to me. Damn, I'll never be happy with the car again!
Seriously, automotive writers are paid to be critical and find fault. If they just lavish praise on a car, they get accused of not being "objective". That this is the worst thing they can find tells me the car must be pretty good.

The animated bar showing instantaneous MPG is annoying too. I don't like being nagged by my car. The only function that doesn't show the animation is "oil percentage". I don't like being nagged by that one either. The whole form and function of the display screams "tacked on at the last minute with no design thought." Very un-zen of Honda. And I keep cycling through the displays looking for "boost."

Just because it's inaccurate, doesn't mean it's not useful. It overestimates fuel economy, but it's fairly consistent. I just mentally subtract 5 MPG from whatever it says and go from there. I know I need an average of 45 MPG on the display to get a REAL 40 MPG, and so on.
