Oil analysis report 10k miles - 09 Fit

They are so much more refined and have so many higher tolerences that the wear actually put on oil by the engine is much much less. That combined with the fact that oil technology has improved means that the old adages no longer apply.
As for the Color. Do NOT go by the color of the oil. The color has absolutely NO bearing on the capability of the oil to appropriately lubricate the engine. The only way to accurately determine if the oil has broken down is to do exactly what the OP did, Send an analysis to Blackstone.
Right you are. Lean running EFI systems and high energy ignitions mean that unburned fuel is not washing down past the rings. Modern refining means what blowby does get by is not full of sulfur to form acids. All API SM conventional motor oil, especially 5W-20 grade, is essentially "synthetic" Group II+ and Group III, which is high VI and extremely high purity.
As for oil color, and the MM system, our 1992 BMW 325i turned its oil black within 1000 miles, yet when I replaced the cam cover gasket at 140,000 miles the engine looked NEW inside, not even a yellowish coating of varnish. It had a system that used rpm and temperature to determine service intervals. It was calibrated to go up to 10,000 miles on conventional 15W-40 that met BMW Long Life specs, such as Chevron Delo 400. Changes were usually at 6-8,000 miles and Blackstone analysis showed that the oil still tested well within spec.

Think back about where you got your info for changing the oil every 3k (I'm assuming that's what you are referring to). Those teachings have been around since the 50's & 60's because they were passed down to us by our fathers or grandfathers. Engine & Oil Tech has progressed sooo much that a 4cyl is now making what V6 & V8's used to make in terms of power. (naturally aspirated) They are so much more refined and have so many higher tolerences that the wear actually put on oil by the engine is much much less. That combined with the fact that oil technology has improved means that the old adages no longer apply.

I'd like to add in the analysis for my first oil change -- figured I should just add onto another thread than start another new one.
I have a 2009 Fit, doing mostly highway/suburban driving. I hit 1 year before the maintenance minder told me to change the oil (it was at 30%), so I changed it a year after I bought it. Had about 8600 miles on it. Blackstone seems to think it was OK to leave the oil in that long.
