I want to slam my GE

I understand how it could be answered in any number of ways, I'm just asking what YOU would do (or have done). People are so pretentious around here.

I could've asked how to get my car to 200HP
I'll be more specific, if I keep my stock rims and tires and want to lower the rear by about 1.8"-2" and the front by about 1"-1.2", what springs would you recommend?

You can also get coilovers so that you can adjust the height to your liking with the added dampening to deal with the lowering.

just my 2 cents. I went on an epic quest to lower my last car. As far as performance, I found the closer it I got stock ride hight, the more competitive my times were. And please remember that alot of these race or performance oriented parts do make the car extremely trying/manageable for a daily driver. If this is your daily driver that you rely on for getting to and from work year round, I don't recommend going extreme with drop or spring rates. keep with the progressive springs and from the well respected brands.
If its only look that you are concerned about, save up for coilovers, and adjust the height when you are going for show drop vs daily use. you have to pay to play, its worth it in the end if thats what your aiming for.

What kind of car was it? If it was something already neutrally handling/setup well from the factory then yes any uniformed alterations can totally screw it up.

unless you have a steep driveway
The benefits of lowering a car are many. The only downside is reduced maneuverability and the increased potential of hitting something.
Benefits:
Lower center of gravity
Reduced body roll
Increased response
Lower aerodynamic drag

Fit's look horrible at stock height. And you must have a mountain for a driveway. My drive way is steep and I've never scraped my Fit anywhere and I'm lowered almost 2 inches planning on going lower.

thats why you drive up one wheel at a time at an angle.. when you're lowered you do steep driveways and speedbumps at an angle... people scrape because they go 4x4 style head on
