Just fit a set of these BC Coilovers, Standard height - 3", F 5k & R 4k. They really plant the car to the road nice and firm, not hard. Softer springs can be ordered I think, but I find F 5k & R 4k Ok. They don't feel as hard as I thought they would.

Actually it's not. My driveway has a slight rise and I back out and enter at an angle. I still sometimes scrape with my stock 09 sport.

What kind of car was it? If it was something already neutrally handling/setup well from the factory then yes any uniformed alterations can totally screw it up.
I just post it up as a case-in-point. Its a 99 cougar with d2s (11k front, 9k rear) and many other suspension goodies. obviously when you put coilovers on, you want to see how low you can take it... over a few months I slowly bumped the car back up to stock ride height. on that car, anything a 1/2" lower than stock really is a detriment to handling. I played with so many different combinations of parts trying to get it to work well with a strong drop but it just fundamentally ruins the suspension geometry.

My BC coilovers are awesome. I run them at F 20mm/R 30mm lower than stock, but they can go heigher. The car feels like a hovercraft, ever so smooth and nearly zero body roll. As for the shocks, I run them at F Soft 5 clicks / R Soft 6 clicks. I have the option to go all the way to 30 click, but I never will. You can't compare D2 & BC Coilovers.

just because it feels like a hovercraft and has no body roll doesn't mean it will product faster times on the track.

I have never had it on a track, but it feels great for daily driving and a bit of fun when needed.

BC's can go 3.5" below from standard height, but no Fit could drive that low.

no it has all the goodies, custom tubular adjustable control arms (front and back), toe arms, plethora of sway bars to play with and more heim joints than you can shake a stick at, all mounts are solid including subframes, lots of seam welding, welded sub frame connectors and other bracing. It added a bit of ride harshness, but was still great on the streets.... if theres one lesson I took away with that suspension build, don't go nuts on spring rates when getting coilovers, it'll really kill your ability to safely drive it on the street.

(although when your springs have no deflection, you can get the car stupidly low without ever worrying about the tires rubbing).

also I don't know how much it affects the fit, but if you do decide to go stupidly low, you are shortening the distance between the wheel hubs and the transmission, and if you hit something, you run the risk of binding and snapping the cv joints.

(ok those BC coilovers look amazing... I like that alot better than the D2 designs)

They don't just look good, they also feel good. That's the most important part for me. I am only about 25mm/30mm lower right now with 5/6 clicks soft and the car controls itself, way better than stock.
