Had my 09 fit with Navi for about almost two weeks. Love it. Now i want to wax it. Any suggestions as to which product or products are good?

 

for novice NXT techwax is great stuff. make sure you remove the wax your dealer put on prior to the application. if the dealer used polymer then no need to worry but polymer (NXT) does not adhere well to carnauba waxes.

i used a product call Griot's Paint Prep but you can use dawn dish soap if you dont feel like ordering this stuff online.

On my SSM I like:

Base Coat: Meguiars NXT Tech Wax
Top Coat: Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow #26 Carnuba Wax
Touch Ups: Meguiar's Quik Wax Spray

 

Just like the other guys I would recommend Meguiars NXT Tech Wax

 

I buy the wax that comes with a bikini model, and she waxes it for me!

 

Or maybe wax the bikini model. Hmmmmmmm

My favorite wax of choice is P21s 100% followed by meguiars #21 followed by #26. I also like duragloss aquawax as a sealant.

 

What about Zaino?

 

Zaino is best known for their durability but lack in the gloss department. Zaino is recommended for people up north with bad weather conditions. Zaino makes the best quick detailer, clay and tire shine in my opinion. Z6, Z12, and Z18.

 

Up here a pro recommended Klasse for the best durability. It's stupid expensive but you use so little, a bottle will last for years. It's not a wax but a sealant. I used the two part system. The gloss is very good on my Silver Fit, but on a Red VW Rabbit it was so bright, it hurt to look at it in the sun. On my dark grey Toyota it was less impressive.

 

Black magic wet Shine.

 

Another vote for Duragloss Aquawax. Especially in a place like Florida where you don't need a strong winter wax (still holding on to my Meguiar's #16!). The DG AW is easy to use, looks super-glossy, and can be applied quickly after every wash if you like. Oh, and it's inexpensive. It wipes up easily and doesn't spot or stain. Use it all over - plastic, glass, metal, wheels.

Use a quick detailer of your choice in between full waxings.

 

I use NXT.. this is the first car i'm using it on and i like it.

I swear by P21S/S100. I mix up my polishes though.

 

There are a number of good waxes, especially those based on carnuba wax.
But for our use airplane wax, such as Slipstream, lasts a lot longer and shines just as well and seems to have less friction. We 'think' we gain about 0.5 mph at top speed..

 

I used the Turtle wax Ice product and I am not really impressed. (then again, it's not really wax) I think this weekend I will grab some NXT and see how it does.

Any preference or advantage of using paste vs. liquid?

off topic a bit, grab a bottle of Meguiar's Quick Detailer, that stuff works great when you just need to touch up a spot or get rid of a hard water stain.

 

Turtle wax sucks, NXT is almost as bad, it looks decent for a week but is usually hard to remove if the surface isn't prepped correctly.

Order online if you want top quality products.

 

I've been using QD for touch ups but it can get expensive if you park outside and need to touch up every other day. I'm going to order a bottle of Optimum No Rinse. I've heard good things about it and all you need is 2 oz per gallon of water to make detailer.

 

Optimum no rinse is amazing!!! I use it as a rinseless wash all the time and its awesome. I buy it in gallons. I use as clay lube also, so versatile.

Also be careful when using QD when your car is too dirty as you can cause swirls.
