DIY floor mats
Would anyone care for me to do a DIY tutorial on making custom floor mats for around $30? I already made them for my car and think they look pretty good. I made floor mats for the trunk and all parts in the cabin with high-quality material. I'm trying to see if anyone would actually be interested or if its a waste of time. Let me know

I can't imagine that this is any more than cutting relatively flat material. Me, I'm interested in things with raised lips, ridges, and the like.
That being said, I think it's always a good idea to create documents, information resources, etc. based on projects, ideas, etc. Whether or not a handful of people here are interested in seeing it, someone somewhere might benefit from it.

Ok. I will probably have the tutorial up soon. For me it is really simple, cutting certain material to custom fit, however for some they may not be as technically capable without a visual tutorial.

Here's a quick DIY to tide you over until Bay Area Kid is ready with his.
1. Go to Target and get the "Goodyear" rubber floor mats
I think I paid ~$25
2. Place the rear and passenger side mats in your car, that part is finished
3. Either cut or rip out driver side mat so the dead pedal doesn't cause the mat to jackup
These have worked really well to keep sand under control. To keep the back clean, I keep my board in a bag and use a few of large containers to keep my gear. I also have an Ikea doormat ($1!) as a changing mat. I just bang it a few times to knock the sand off before returning to my car.
Let me try to anticipate your questions:
A: Yes, I'm serious.

Id like to see what yah did...
Ive made custom cargo mats before useing truck bed mat.
it comes in a 4x8 sheet for about $50 shipped and its nigh bullet proof.
you have to make a template of the area using cardbord...
Basically flatten boxes trim them to fit the contours (use several instead of one big one) when you have all contours mapped out tape them all together thats your template trace on the bed mat and cut carefully Im gonna do one soon for my fit as dog hair is hard to get outta the cheap material back there.
Oh and dont get the summit mat unless you like the big summit logo in the back.
Sorry to jack your thread at least it was on topic....
