Just installed a Homelink unit using Honda/Acura parts without cutting the headliner.

Parts Used:
- Homelink center from 2004 Acura TSX (Paid $36 Used on EBay)
- 09 Fit Navi / Civic Si Map Light Base (34404-SNA-A21ZD)
- Fit Navi / Acura TSX Map Light Lenses (Use same lenses)

Background / Reasons for Mod:
- 3-Button Homelink Function with No Headliner Cutting
- Parts Click / Bolt in like stock (Excecpt for wiring)
- Entire Used Maplight assembly out of 2004 TSX was $36
-- CIPA/Gentex Mirrors with homelink was $100 more than comparable non-homelink versions
- Use of Factory Honda/Acura Parts (Easy to replace later)
- TSX Version has a Blue LED Ambient Light
- Ability to have Map Lights come on with Doors Open
-- Ability to turn function off to not drain power if desired
- Wanted it to look like a factory Install
-- Color had to match perfectly




This was definitely not a simple plug in install.

I tapped into the constant map light power (pin1) for homelink power, used the door input ground from the doom light harness for the map lights to turn on with doors (Map lights still turn on/off manually regardless of the door/off switch... switch only prevents the map lights from turning on with the door)

I didn't run wires for the ambient light. I don't have the ambient lighting kit under the dash. I did test the light with 12v and confirmed it was blue/worked.

This was a fun modification that only took me a couple hours. I soldered my wires instead of using wire taps, but those are an option.

I ordered the one from the Odyssey. I can't figure out how to wired it up tho. I have navi on my fit and the stock wiring is 1 wire for the small grey plug and 3 wires for the green plug. The homelink unit has 2 wire for the small grey plug and 4 wires for the green plug.

 

What year Odyssey? Does it have a door/switch on the homelink part? Does it have an Odyssey factory navi mic?

The above questions will help me narrow it down. I'll try to do a little digging tonight for wiring help.

I remember reading somewhere that there are two mic standards... civic used three wire, odyssey used two... or something to that effect.

 

not exactly sure the year, I believe it is a 05. It does not have the door switch. it is more of a map light unit, just like on the fit and yes it does have the Odyssey factory navi mic. TIA for the help. I try to post some pics tomorrow.

You didn't by any chance take pics of the back of the TSX Map Light Assembly?
I also have the Navi and would like to see if any Honda/Acura maplight assembly will be direct plug and play for our GE8's.


I got the same problem, I haven't bought the homelink/sunglass holder but I've looked at most of them on ebay and I think some of the Acura's might work for us, but I got to double check the plugs/wires more closely.


Come to think of it homelink might not be that important to me, but the sunglass holder is... hmmm mscott, what did you do with the shell of the TSX unit?

 

That looks like the thing that was in the Ridgeline that picked me up to get my car when it was in the shop. I didn't know what it was. I have the Base Fit, so I have nothing up top.

It has the sunglasses thing too. Don't know about the wiring.

Many of Hondas products share the same parts. If you're looking for a setup that will plug in without custom wiring... I dug and crossreferenced for a couple days. I didn't find it, but perhaps others will have better luck.

I'm 95% sure, you're going to be doing some wiring if you want a homelink setup. The fits only have a single power wire run from the factory (non-base) and a 3-wire microphone for those with navi.

Additionally, the Fits plug for the map light is a little different than those found in honda/acura products with the sunglasses holder. Alignment tabs are on opposite sides for the connector. Not a simple plug in.

nice job.

one thing to remember though...dealer can steal your code when you take it in for service. one reason why i dont use homelink. i just use the regular garage door opener switch and just remove it when i take the car in for service.

 

It's a tad larger than the key (black part) I have 1 for each vehicle and my golf cart LOL

 

Is there a similar unit with Bluetooth?
I like the Homelink, but I'd like to be able to answer
phone calls too.

Did you have to buy the wiring plug separetly, or did it come with it?

 

I don't recall the model number, but it is the one from CIPA. It was cheaper than the GENTEX I had in my Rubicon. I've had both brands and the CIPA seems to work fine... the fact that I got it $80 cheaper than the gentex swayed me.
