09 Base Fit audio question

One of the Sport features that I miss in my base Fit is the USB adapter in the glove box. I like the idea of loading up a thumb drive with tunes and keeping it in the car. Has anyone successfully used a USB-to-3.5 mm cable to play through the jack on the front of the unit? If so, where did you get the cable.

thanks!

I just got the base Fit on Friday night (CFC my poor old '93 Pathfnder). I honestly didn't know much about the fit, but was impressed that I could put my 9' 6" longboard in with no problem. I don't think the USB was compelling enough for me to get the Sport, but I didn't know about it until after I bought the car anyway.

I found this for ~ $60:
2009 Honda FIT USB Adapter Attachment

It doesn't look like a job for the timid, but it might be a good weekend project.

I don't believe it's possible to go straight from your flash drive (usb) into the 3.5mm input on your stereo. The MP3's on your flash drive need to be "read" by the stereo, which is not possible through a 3.5mm audio only connection.

You either need to purchase/install the USB cable kit from Honda or buy an MP3 player.

For the complete kit I think you will need both of these:

Thanks. I was thinking it wouldn't be so simple. I think a USB cable install may be in my future. I do have an mp3 player, but I don't want to leave it in the car or have to remember it etc. Maybe an mp3 player that's left in the Fit is the way to go and I won't have to take anything apart on a brand-new car.

This is likely a super old thread but if anyone had any ideas I am up for it. I am starting to thinking about swapping the base radio on a base fit that I just got. Are there any 1:1 swap units that exist?

The Fit looks like a difficult swap, but you can get single Dinn or Double Dinn adapters. It replaces the whole center section. Allowing you to slot in a standard head-unit. Actually not so bad. Any audio shop worth anything should know what to do.

Thank you for the info on this. Is it possible or even worth it to swap the base unit for a higher trim edition? I wasn't sure if that was more of a plug and play option. Maybe there are some connectors in the back that are there but are not used with the base.

Installing an aftermarket head unit is almost plug and play if you use a dash kit and connectors. If you buy from crutchfield, you'll have everything you need to do it easily, and all needed instructions.
