I'm taking my car to the dealer for this. I used to do my own oil changes but at $18/oil change from a Honda Service department, they can get dirty while I wait in the AC eating their free snacks and I get a free car wash too! How much are you really saving by doing your own oil changes anyways?

Their popcorn is good. They have like five different seasonings.

Yes, but if you know what you're doing, you get peace of mind. There's no guarentee that your dealer is using a quality oil or even the correct grade. Ditto with filters. Plus, oil change time is also a good time to take note of anything else going on under the hood.

To me, it's not only about the savings.

I do my own oil changes for peace of mind, that everything is done correctly.

I know I could say "What could happen?" but I know exactly what happens from crappy shops who don't do proper maintenance. Its an oil change that i trust competent techs to be able to handle, if they can't even do that what's the purpose of my warranty right? and besides if they screw up its documented as opposed to the "Piece of mind" from doing it myself and having my warranty voided for some crazy reason. Their coffee and pastries are really good too if you go in the morning

Hey, to each his own.

I just sleep better knowing I did it myself. And besides, changing oil on a car is one of the things I still enjoy doing

That's like me and washing my car, I enjoy cleaning it more than letting someone else do it even if its free.

Same here as I used to be a Porshe tech. I will gladly do it myself and KNOW it is done right. Just because some Honda tech does it doesn't mean it will always be perfect. I have worked with horrible techs that should never work on a car again, yet they were employed.

Another vote for Mobile 1 filters. You're kidding yourself if you think that just by using a stock filter you somehow automagically don't have to fight it out in court.
