I am guessing it's there because the radio has the feature to adjust the volume based on speed of the car?

That seems like a reasonable guess. It seemed to me that there was a noticeable change in volume around 40 mph. Does this match others' experiences?

I was wondering the same thing. I know that in a Mazda 3 the radio turns up as the car goes faster. ford focus too. I was wondering if our radio does it. Anybody know?

Of course it does turn volume up.. it's a specific option called SVC in the radio, and you can set Low/Med/High sensitivity.

I posted the speed option on another thread a while back

Here is the exact procedure from the technical manual... your car does NOT need to be off to begin the process... you can start this at any time even if car is running...

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II). Make sure turn off the audio unit.

2. Push and hold the preset No. 1 and No. 6 buttons. While holding the buttons, push the power button (A). Release the buttons and the self-diagnostic mode begins.

3. Press Preset button 5. Now, when you drive the vehicle, the VSP indicates the vehicle speed in km/h.

4. The self-diagnostic mode ends when you turn off the audio unit or turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

Speed-sensitive volume control is definitely a feature. If you press the button that controls Bass/Treble, LR/Fade, you will eventually get to a setting for the amount of gain. I set mine to high (but I have some hearing loss from 50+ years of bad behavior).

i did this on my GE8 and it works.

You can do this while the engine is running also.

Turn off radio
Press 1 and 6 simultaneously and turn on the radio
Release 1 and 6 buttons and press 5.

I did this at a red light and worked fine.

It shows vehicle speed in kilometers. And there is another number before it followed by "Hz". i know Hz is hertz, but what does it mean in relation to the vehicle speed. As you go faster the Hz value increases. At rest both readings are 0 (0Hz and 0kms).

Nice find!

I don't think you can get anything other than km/h.

There are a few other combinations. I do NOT recommend guessing at the others, I am not sure if they are 'read only', or if you could inadvertently misconfigure something by messing with them.

The 2 options listed so far can cause no damage that I am aware of... the others I read on the tech manual and decided NOT to attempt!

the factory one at bernardi is almost $350 and it does not tie in to the radio at all. and i cant find instructions, but im sure you have to turn your radio down when you get a call. I had a TL that had bluetooth built in to the radio and muted the music when a call came in. does the one at bernardi do that or like the post above can the factory radio bluetooth be enabled?
