Bought Honda Civic LX 2009 instead of Fit Sport

Did you at least get the SI?
They've both got their merits. I imagine most people aren't really comparison shopping the Civic vs. the Fit since you pretty much want a hatchback or you don't...this time around the Civic wasn't even on my list to test drive.

i had a 2008 Honda Civic EX coupe with Navigation..black on black..automatic. I bought it for $22k out the door in July 2008. drove it for 3 months with 8,000 miles on it. sold it back to dealer....lost almost $6k.
reason being. at 1000 miles, i hear a thunking noise when turning. dealer couldnt diagnose problem...eventually they said my bolt was loose and tightened it up..but it still had the sound.
automatic tranny going out...no joke...i stop at stop sign, accelerate and it hesitates..revs goes up but no speed. dealer couldnt diagnose problem. i was sick of it. sold it to dealer.
the navigation on the civic was nice though.
but yeah, made in japan ftw.

I actually looked at the Civic and Fit and went back and forth but ended up deciding on a the Fit. I wanted more room for hauling things and the Civic just couldn't beat the Fit in utility. I like the hatch more compared to the traditional trunk.
The Civic had it's plusses too with the better suspension, bigger engine, and so on. But it all came down to the utility like some others have said for me.
Both cars are very nice cars and would have been happy with either one. I'm glad I got the Fit. :-D

Congrats, Civics are really great cars. I'm with most of the Fit owners in terms of why I chose the FIT (drove the insight and civic as well), but I understand your reasons for going Civic.
Those crash tests are BS, however. Those types of crashes count for only 1% of crashes. It's actually on the IIHS website. The Fit is the first subcompact to get a top safety pick (the Civic also received this honor, go Honda). I doubt the civic is really all that much safer, if at all. I would like to see how it would fare against an accord.
Indeed, where is the Aveo?!
