Got my muffler shop to chop off the axleback and weld on a custom bent 2" pipe and re-use the stock tip. Painted the pipe black for extra stealthness. It is very quiet, sounds just like stock except a tad louder and lots of growl. I would compare the exhaust note to a slightly louder 350z. I know lots of people use that car to describe the exhaust tone but it really sounds like it. Only cost me $40. This will hold me off till somebody comes out with a decent exhaust. Until then, this sounds amazing.

How difficult was it to coerce the shop to bypass the muffler?

Not difficult at all. They didnt even question me. Just bring cash as they might not want to leave a paper trail. The exhaust isnt loud enough to get you pulled over anyways, and it looks stock. Just try going to a mom and pop muffler shop if anything.

i seriously doubt they care about a paper trail or not... I just got my cat cut out and they were more than happy to do it

If you really want it to match just tell the shop to match the stock diameter piping. Although I recommend 2 inch. Anything smaller will sound exactly like stock considering my 2" is very very quiet.

Anything bigger than 2" wont fit the stock exhaust tip so youll have to get the shop to weld one of theirs on.

Your welcome, just as a reference in case you do want to use bigger piping, don't use anything over 70mm. 70mm is good if you plan on further modifying your car, but 60mm is best if you are only minorly modifying your car because it gives you the best back pressure

By the way the axleback weighs 11 lbs. So you save at least 10 by doing this.

I can't see the videos since I don't have a facebook but mine doesn't sound like a fart can at all. Like I said before it is very deep tone that's slightly louder than stock. Lots of growl. No buzzing or rasping. I can still hear the engine over it.

OK OK :P i'll show my face.......If you want the Factory tip you have to use the 2in pipe, even though the factory is 1 3/4.......just trust me. it sounds really good, kinda like a mixture of a 350z/ SRT4 neon. that video is very low quality, i'll make a better one soon, in HD....haha but yeah here is what i had done a couple weeks ago.

P.S
I am able to swap it back to factory if i want. at anytime i want

Thanks to qbmurderer (who rocks big time)

Had my muffler delete done today.

.....but a slightly different way

Used no part of the stock catback except for the bolts.

so it is a pipe with flange that connects to the B pipe at the stock location just ahead of the torsion beam........and a new Stainless tip, the tip is larger than stock as that was the lightest one out of the 8 tips I had to choose from as it was single wall.

This way I can bolt on stock real easy if I sell the car, or even sell the new pipe as a bolt on if I get tired of it, which I doubt cuz I like it a lot so far
