Fit base model OTD price
Hey all,
my friend is trying to purchase a new vehicle with the cash for clunkers program going on right now. He has practically no money, but he drives about 45 miles each way to work 5 days a week in his 18 mpg truck. He was looking at getting a scion xd, kia rio, hyundai accent, etc etc until I pushed him towards the fit (Civic Si owner here, hada rep honda).
Right now, they're offering him a base model manual fit with no options for $16,846 OTD. His payments (6.9% apr) over 60 months come out to be $240/month with $4500 down. He has no extra money to put down, but can't really afford $240. Is there any wiggle room on that price?
Thanks

I thought it was a bit high as well considering I had bought a Civic SI from them for just about $3,000 more (before TTL) than they wanted for an OTD Fit base model. Sales tax is 7% here, so pretty close to MD.
How did you get the fit for $13,700 before TTL? Isn't invoice over $14,000? The guy made it sound like there was no wiggle room on the price since fits are so in demand, even though they had over 20 on the lot.

Maybe they are selling a little cheaper in Maryland. I had a few quotes and all were pretty close, but I got the dealer to go for $14,200 including destination and they took $500 off of that since I financed through Honda so I got it for $13,700. I went the internet route and printed off all price quotes I was given before heading in.
Good luck, hope it all works out!

Price in detroit
If you need a reference point, I'm in a suburb of Detroit.
I currently have an offer on a base automatic fit with keyless entry for:
15,460
129 - keyless
180 doc fees
6% sales tax
15 plate fee
8 title fee (plates and titles are cheap in michigan)
16739 OTD
So it looks like your price is quite high for the manual.
All I did was email , using the forms or email addresses on about 10 dealer websites, asking for what I want and getting quotes, and then feeding the quotes back to the dealers to see who could beat it.
Good luck.
