K&N Cold Air Intake
#41
I'm not 100% sure but i believe K&N uses, majority, oiled filters
#44
It shouldn't, k&n uses a very fine oil and it stays on the filter, i've never had any oil go into the intake manifold or anywhere besides the filter, just use the correct amount when you clean it and you'll never have a problem

Fallen:
I had a drop in filter on my CL-S and currently have a drop in on my Fit. No issues with oil and the MAF. I even washed and re-oiled my filter in my CL-S a couple of times. Never had an issue. K&N makes a quality product (kinda nice to say for a change from an American product)
On a side note. I'm interested to see the price to see if I can justify spending the money for 5hp and some better sound. I felt a slight performance gain with the drop in. I'm curious to see what the sri feels like.

definitely looking forward to this one. seems to be the best of both worlds: easy to install, no hydrolock possibility, uses factory air duct, and (hopefully) good gains.
+1 for the heat shield. SRIs have always been a bit off for me. but no, not looking for a sri vs cai debate here .
now waiting for pricing, user reviews, and 3rd party dynos.

ok.....we are not starting this argument. that comment is pointless other then to start some argument on rather cold air coming up the the ram air duct through the grille through the hood duct right onto the air filter is cold or not. COLD AIR INTAKE does not have to stick out of the bottom of the car to get cold air. if you are not fimiliar with a GE there is a hole in the grille that leads to an air duct on the bottom of the hood that take air to that general area of the engine compartment. therego cold air going into that filter where it sits. so try not to just jump in some thread making some OPINION or POINTLESS STATEMENT.

I have been leery of K&N filters on motorcycles because a) they don't seem to do much good; and b) they pass a lot more dust than a pleated paper filter. On the other hand, I don't live in the desert, a Fit needs every bit of power you can find, and being able to clean and re-oil, rather than replace paper filters has its attractions.

Bump............... Checked on their website and it's available for purchase $306.99 Not C.A.R.B Legal though. Sucks for CA people if you get stopped. Also to the guy above ^, if you have a cone style filter get a sock to go over it. I've used one on the intake for my Silverado and I don't have to be cleaning it as often without it.

The price is straight from them, so who knows maybe, just maybe, you may be able to get it cheaper somewhere else. Only other company that's left for a CARB exempt kit is AEM. Now if AEM doesnt get CARB certified, no one will.
I would have liked to have seen Volant get into the Fit. A Sealed box with a cone filter shoved up that air duct on the hood would have been pimp

K&N Website for this intake: 69-1017TTK - K&N 69 Series Typhoon Kits, Performance Intake Kit
Installation Video: K&N Air Intake Installation for 2009 Honda Fit 1.5L
Best prices on both ebay and Amazon: $306
I would expect the intake to become CARB legal eventually. There is an application process that takes some time.

looks good. i like the no-nonsense look of it and the proven hp results.
sidenote: i remember seeing another member's car on here (from asia-thailand?) had a small hood/air scoop nearby where the air filter sits. that would be a great addition to the k&n kit.
